So, it's not coming out until July 27, 2007 but there's supposedly a 25-second teaser trailer on Sunday's episode, and there was also one in the previews at Ice Age 2 I think. :)

What do you think? I think that's surprisingly soon... and there's still at least 2 seasons left. They already started the voice recordings though, which is the first step. (If you're going to come here to say the show sucks now or whatever, go away.) I just wanted to see if there are any fans looking forward to the movie version. Do you think there will be an actual p-l-o-t? :P

Cool, but they should really be spending their time and money on more Futurama than just a couple of DTV movies.

Oh, we are. We think it will be excellent. (Sorry, brain isn't charged up enough to start making puns yet).

And no. We're talking Simpsons here not a good show like Futurama. If I were to guess, it would just be their usual line of unusual and seemingly unrelated events that merge to be come essentially one 90 min episode of the show. That would be perfectly fine by me as long as they bring Troy McClure back... Oh wait...

I'm a little worried that the movie will be confirmation of the shark jump for the Simpsons. :S
For some reason the episode where they went camping with the councilor keeps coming to mind.
I really do like The Simpsons as a show (most of the time... some of the episodes are a little inapropriate for my taste) but it never really struck me as movie material.

I know that, as a (former) Simpson fan, it's really, really bad, but that made my inner Futurama fan laugh.

For anyone who missed the trailer, you can watch it here: http://www.springfieldpost.com/index.php?topic=92.0

Despite every fiber of my being warning me not to get my hopes up, I'm really excited about this movie. I've been waiting to see this thing for over a decade....

I'm not excited about this.
Last nights episode of the Simpsons (where Grandpa became a matador) was the worst episode ever. It was just... bleh. The shows really gone downhill, and I don't believe a movie will help things out.

Grampa as a matador...what the heck o_O I loved the episode with Ricky Gervais, though.

I love Futurama <3

If they really love their fans, they're going to make the humor more season 1-6-ish, the newer episodes aren't even worth watching anymore :(

*coughyoumustnothaveseendudewheresmyranchcough*

Anyway, I can see the movie going either way. This season has overall been pretty good (The Seemingly Never-Ending Story), and if they are willing to put the effort into it, can see it being good. It will never be golden era good, but it can still be good.

I've grown up with The Simpsons. Which probably explains a lot. Anyway, I'm very apprehensive about this movie. I just don't see how they can manage to keep an audience for an entire movie. Especially with the quality levels of some of the latest episodes....

-sigh- Nothing good lasts forever :(

Definitely not the worst ever. The plot was stupid, but there were lots of funny jokes such as the Diepod. XD The worst ever is probably The Principal and the Pauper or The Frying Game.

I don't think the movie will suck... they still manage to make good episodes (bad ones too...),but it's still better than about 90% of TV and still gets at least 7-12 million viewers per episode. (The new ones on Fox that is) Oh...the trailer is all over youtube now if anyone's interested. It'll probably be removed though. Also, the movie is supposed to have good writers from older episodes. :P

And yeah, the Ricky Gervais one was better. That, The Italian Bob, and The Seemingly Never-Ending Story are the best of the season so far.

*nerd* It's the only show I've been watching consistently since the beginning...I remember watching it with my parents at like...3.

Yes: Mike Scully, Matt Groening, James L. Brooks, Al Jean, Ian Maxtone-Graham, George Meyer, David Mirkin, Mike Reiss, Matt Selman, John Swartzwelder and Jon Vitti all contributed to the script.

I am teh happy, especially since David Silverman (Monsters Inc.) is the supervising animation director. :D
