There have been one or two maps that have had a dummy set. I think there might be a star hidden under the number on your SC, if so, try this set.

EDIT: Suki, PM me your Data or a SC and I'll have a look.

The user marak the wave has some rather interesting things in his shop and pet's webpage. The most interesting involving a link at the bottom of the poem on his pet's page which leads to the Hall of Heros and something about a second stone. The link doesn't work yet but I figure it's worth mentioning.
In case you're curious here's the link to his lookup:

Okay, well here's what I think. A lot of people try to get attention or throw others off by creating accounts like these, and if I remember right never has a plot involved an account (correct me if I'm wrong). And the poem on his petpage...it can be easily made up and the link as well. You can make a link for anything, just that they won't work. Again about the poem, the i's are not capitalized and some other words are capitalized for no reason.

So my conclusion is, it's a fake. 8)

Just send me either a link to your map or your star data and I'll try searching it for you...

I'm afraid I'll have to correct you ;) I'm not sure in which plot this was (some mystery island thingy I think... it has been a while and the LDP has taken up most plot-related space in my brain :)), but there was a plot that gave one or more hints through a user account. It was always clear that this was an acount made by TNT though, since they were always really old and didn't have anything extra to their page, just a special name and the info we needed.
So I don't believe that this is a hint either, this is a small plot, so I don't think it will involve so much investigation, just finding the new link, finding the new constelation and so on and so on, plain and simple fun :)

My guess is that you didn't connect all 6 stars, but just the outer 4...
DO:
*-*-* and *-*-*
DO NOT:
*--* and *--*

ps. the new star mapper is sheer genius, now everybody should be able to do it him/herself :D

Yeah, that's basically what I was thinking. Even so it can't hurt to mention it. Who knows? There's always a possibility, no matter how small, that it might be real.

if tbt did not make theese accounts whoever did sure is crafty and witty, i mean the poems make sence wheather they are clues or not even if it is a red herring its still fun to prove :P

I control the tide and sea

for what you Search i have the key

And at the mid of every night

i Call my waters to a new height

The Shadows of the misted moon

marks the dawn of changes Soon.

An Orb forgotten beneath my draft

A Faerie spectates from the unknown craft

A Statue watches from her watery grave

And soon All will know Of The Power of marak the wave.

the poem is obviously taking about the darkest faerie statue in maraqua.

their shop says

6th will rise,
7th betray,
1st will leave,
But I shall stay

that means..

the darkest faerie will rise
Marak will betray
Jerenda will leave.
and i shall stay

it dosn't make sence because if statue number 7 which means marak is betraying, now can he stay and betray at the same time?

Yeah, thanks. :D And same, it was stated clearly that it's just a mini-plot. If it was huge and really difficult, I'd have given up and been getting all my homework done early (like I usually try to do :)) instead of having spent the whole afternoon staring at a stupid map of the sky.[/quote]

Evening all! I just want to repost that template I made for anyone who is still looking for their star:

Anyone still stuck can PM me. I'm on Helper Duty for the next several hours.

Looks nice! Think you could make it automatically align it to where it's supposed to be if the person's get_star_data includes that constellation? It should be pretty easy, the format they use is simple to understand.

Also, I'm having a bit of trouble dragging it... sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. You might want to look into it.

The automatic lining up is not as easy as it sounds, it requires finding the pattern to find the pattern you have to for each star search every other star to find the second then to make sure you have the right one you'll have to search every other star again for the third. While programmitcally this isn't as hard (three nested for loops should do it) processing-wise it starts eating. (Ie just looking for the first three star in the the constellation to make sure it really -is- the right one will take approx 280^3 calculations if you have 280 stars.)

Oh yes forgot to add, are you using Firefox? Cause if you are it is have some issues (and the issues vary) with firefox. I am not familiar with firefox so I'm unsure as to how to fix it, but I'm looking into it.

Nono, I don't mean automatically finding the constellation, I just mean automatically aligning it if it's already in the star data. Take a look at the end of mine:
Code:
...:1!37,-212;77,-242#77,-242;117,-272#157,-272;197,-242#197,-242;237,-212

Before the ":" is all the original star data. After it is all the already-found constellations. Constellations are split up by "|" (not shown here, but it's in the code for the telescope). Then, in each constellation, before the "!" is the ID of the constellation: in this case 1, which is the DF. After that are the lines, split up by "#". There's a line between 37,-212 and 77,-242, another between 77,-242 and 117,-272, etc.

So pretty easy to understand. :)

Nabile pwns you...

Hello *waves* me again. Just dropping in to tell you that I've added a nifty (read "not really but just pretend it is") feature to the mapper. That is correct folks you heard correct! :D

Now if you click the "Show Guide" checkbox a bunch of circle will appear that you can drag over your map until you find some little dots that fit exactly into the little circles and there you have you're constellation. See? Told you it's nifty!

Good solution. I was going to start writing a program that, when given the coordinates data, would load all the coordinates into an array or linked list (depending on the programming language) and then mathematically calculate and compare between datapoints until a solution set was found, which would then be output to user. But I think that would have made it way too easy for the kiddies. At least, with this solution, they still have to do a little something themselves.

Okay ranting done.

So Im using the wonderous starguide that is available and I have made a screenshot and Im looking at this thing on photobucket and I just can't find it. I have tried multiple posibilites.

Any tips would be mucho appreciated.
