Location: somewhere, I suppose...
mine behind the protector, my stars (-105,282,2) to (98,-219,1) (and alternate (-10,-214,2) to (98,-213,2), supposing they're of any use)

For the sake of data collecting:

I found my oil behind Psellia, the Dreamer, and my coordinates begin with

-100,-189 (1)
-107,-340 (1)

and end with

9,356 (2)
93,-551 (1)

:)

Okay, so as not to keep anyone hanging, I found Elric's coordinates for the Wave in my "alternate" map, and even though I got the Submit button (I notice it doesn't pop up on just ANY 6 stars) it wouldn't take. :(

However, the Delete Star tool is doomed, in my opinion. It won't let me erase the lines I drew (when I could on other tries just fine; though the Submit button pops up before that, of course), unless I Delete All my saved star points.

For the sake of me resting well tonight, I can only hope this is a glitch, too. Or I'd rather hope I am doing something right (but don't know what).

2-Can someone explain me how to "repeatedly take screenies of the different views, moved over little by little, and then compile an image."

If you have a program to take screenshots (can't help you with that), take them with the telescope co-ordinates at -340, -170, 0, 170, and 340. Start at the top left corner (-340, 340) and move across the top (y=340), then do the next row (y=170), etc. You'll end up with 25 images.

(The co-ordinates by the way, are of the center of the crosshairs - so you can see well beyond 340. Also, I haven't seen anyone mention this yet, but I've noticed that I can also highlight and select some stars that aren't visible - just out of the field of view. I have one at 494, -493 for example that is under the border in the bottom right corner.)

Then you need an image editing program, like photoshop, or whatever you have. You then have to copy and paste them all into one image, keeping them in the proper place, and crop out all of the repeated material. If you're careful about the co-ordinates when taking the screen shots, it makes it easier to line them up after. You can just lineup the crosshairs.

It is time consuming; so if you decide you don't need the second map - or figure out how to get the co-ordinates, you could skip it.

Is anyone else in the "my sky stil hasn't changed yet" boat with me?

On an unrelated note we are going through these splits like a kid through a pile of candy.

Okay, so I haven't gotten my second set of star coordinates and please excuse my ignorance, but I still don't understand why people are having such a hard time getting the coordinates of their second maps.

o_O

Can't you just copy-paste the coordinates from the webpage onto the mapper?

Edit// Also, just wanted to reload this image because I've been searching past splits a while for it... It might be of use to some people. :D

I don't know if these are the constellations we are supposed to be looking for, because obviously some are made up of less (or more) than six stars. Just some tired and cranky input. X[

No, because the flash telescope and the star_data coordinates are (often) loading from two different servers. If one server gives you a different view through your telescope (the alternate, or "wrong" view), and the other server gives you your "real" coordinates, if you paste those coordinates into the mapper, you're going to see your usual map instead of this alternate one. That's what happened to me: weird new map in telescope; normal old coordinates at the star_data link. I had to use the link http://www74.neopets.com/altador/astro. ... tar_data=1 to get my "second" set of coordinates. And all this really makes me think the alternate map is a glitch that's just happening on the one server. Hope that made sense.

Hey guys.

I made something quite impressive!

Image

I decompiled the .swf file for the telescope and adapted the file to show the above image. This is a scaled down version of the image!

A full size (to scale) image can be seen here:

http://www.neopets.com/~lil_gnorbu_sophia

I hope you find this usefull :D

riaherod: Wow, thanks, that looks slightly different from the one that I think it was darkfire posted. I wonder if we all have different orientations of them in our unique map(s)?

http://images6.theimagehosting.com/flash-stars.jpg

(I put this together with the "generic" Flash image and both my star maps)

EDIT: Heh, then no wonder I couldn't find anything anyway. Give us a tutorial on how to decompile Flash, pretty please? :battar:

Thanks, ria -- looks like they all fit nicely into the scope, so it gives us a good idea of the correct size constellations we should be looking for. :)

Ok, Altadorian Astronomers, I expect when I wake up tomorrow:

1) Cranberry will have sumbitted a bug report RE: the star_data / servers,

2) Elric will have given us her secret of finding coordinates with star_data,

3) riaherod will have posted a tutorial so we can all decompile our unique Flash images.

We deserve it, let's cooperate to the best of our ability (inbetween sleep, of course). Good night and good luck to all! <3

EDIT: riaherod, Oh, hmm, so you mean you rearranged them? Oops, then #3 is not relevant. Darn.

Yes - They are in no particular order but are to scale. I will write a little tutorial for you :D
