^^ Hmmm, maybe you guys are right and it is just a shooting star on Jerdana's, but that blows up part of my theory and so I'm a little lost again

Why do we have to submit 6 stars...?

If we all have a day and nite sky view, we might only be able to find 1/2 the constellations in each one. Just throwing that out there so you all don't go mad trying to find one that may only be there before or after Noon.

with mine, my coordinates are definitely changing, I just refreashed my star data page at 5:30 (eastern) and now they are different again. They give me a different map on the page that darkfire made. However, in my actual telescope I'm seeing the same thing I always see. So I honestly have no idea, I am so lost!

I think we FIRST have to find one with 6 stars, and ONCE we find that *prays* then itll be like we have to find one with 4 stars..or something like that. Its a requirement so it limits us to 3 constellations right now.

well I mean this is a bit of a stretch but what if the TCG cards are wrong and all of the constellations(baring the first to rise) have 6 stars... like on The Theif we could say there are three in the hand guard instead of 2 and 1 in the middle of the blade but I mean still just speculation.

My theory is that everyone has the same constellations in their sky map if they are at the same point in the plot. It's basically like taking a blank sheet of paper, pasting each individual image onto it in any orientation, and then adding stars randomly around them. You would not likely get the same finished sheet twice in a row. Maybe our sky maps are like that. I don't have the technical knowledge to do this, but it might be good to write a program that compares the relationships of stars to one another. It wouldn't make sense to compare all, maybe it would first have to search for groups of six or something. Then with two or three peoples' sky maps, we could develop "cutouts" that people could match up with their own skies to find the constellations.
Edit: If anyone wants a better explanation of what I mean, neomail

As for probability, the amount of combinations are well... astronomical....
I have 279 stars. In combinations of 6 thats 620,566,904,595 possible constellations. That doesn't even consider that we may have to have the connections correct.
Either we have to focus on stars 4, 5 and 6 OR get some help from somewhere else.
I don't think anything has been activated with the constellations yet. Even if it has and someone were to randomly get one of the constellations, we would have no way to duplicated it without noticing a pattern or finding other clues.

This may or may not be relevant but just incase I went back to the janitor and got this: The janitor says, "Hm, so you joined an Astronomy Club, eh? That sounds like fun. I wish I had the time to join a club."

Well, I'm not taking over mopping for him!
*wonders why the top of his mop handle has a shiny point on it*

Wow, in the few hours I went away we've been through 11 pages - all of things that had already been said. Am I the only one getting a little agitated? Yes, TNT like to make us wait, what of it? If all we do is spend time going round in circles instead of waiting for some news - we might as well not bother.
So far I have read each post on this plot, some twice with my dyslexia, and I'm more than willing to give people a hand if they are having trouble with something - but 95% of problems so far have been solveable by just reading the first page.
Now, please, can we not try to beat the thread tally of the last plot?

Hi there folks, new to the boards but I'd to throw in my two cents every once in a blue moon.
I have to say that there's got to be a logical reason why none of us, despite all mapping and code-searching, have been able to find a constellation. Save for the few minor announcements of constellations discovered by folks on the neoboards (which, due to lack of proof, I'm assuming to be false) it would seem that something would have clicked into place by now.
Is it at all possible that we're jumping the gun a little here? With the way this plot has progessed so far, it seems to me that we can mess around with this ridiculous telescope till we're blue in the face, but there's probably something that needs to be taken care of before hand. Not that I'm sure what... wish I was.
Any thoughts though on what obvious bit of information we could be missing?

I'm beginning to think we first need to find a clue on what constellation we have to find first, before we are actually able to find and submit the right constellation. If the constellations would have been on our star map then someone would have already found one by now.
I'm not sure wether this clue has already been released or that it hasen't. I even looked at the janitors toenails to see if they would give a clue on the colour stars, but they weren't painted

i count 4 as the corners of a square and one in the center. that big one abt 7 times the others i believe is a shooting star as does only_shades_of_grey. If its not that, where would the other lucky number 6 star be?
