Holy crap those are gorgeous! I love them <3

Do you accept random requests? *waits hopefully*

X3; I wouldnt' mind taking a random request - feel free to PM me about it, though I cant guarantee when I'll be able to finish it *just a bit backed up in stuff, but nothing too urgent as I usually can get on average 2 pictures a day done*

Armi - XD; Heehee I had forgotten too! Good thing we both got our parts done though. Now I just have to do a better job with it next time! Thanks about the art though - yeah water effects are INSANE to do, I've only done it successfully once and it took hours @_@. When in doubt, make the picture SHINEY (that's my philosophy) in hopes that people wont notice the mistakes :D;

Heh. Yeah. BFA is Bachelor of Fine Arts. I had a lot of fine arts courses in my 1 and 2 years of school, and now that i've transferred i've got a lot of boring requirements to meet. But ah well. We all suffer someway or another, you're in stats... i'm in the devils theory course (cultural theory). *sighs*
Thats rather brave, sketching on a small tablet like that. I've always debated on getting a tablet, thought about it, hummed, hawed, and then just never done it. I'd use it a few times and then get bored of it. I prefer to keep my skills honed to real life art. Plus, what i'm doing now earns me money, and I'm pretty sure what i'd do on the computer would never earn me money.
You are talented though. Have you ever thought about illustration? I know there's a lot of the younger generation of writers who would like more chic smooth vectoral type images for their books. I'm sure there's a lot you could do with that if you really got out there and sold yourself too it.

Wow, I wish I could transfer, I wouldn't even mind doing 2-3 years of credits all over again. I was going to transfer to education (and eventually education in art) but none of my credits were transferrable *sighs and wibbles in terrible classes I have to suffer through*

That's true about online drawings and money, its just there for the show. Well, your real life art definately deserves money, the tribal designs are just insanely awesome! A tablet is fun, mine was really cheap so I didn't mind at all, it cost me about 50 bucks. Its actually not that bad, what I normally do is sketch something out in blue, then sketch over that in another colour, make the layer more transparent, and then do a final copy of what I want/the lineart.

Really? I never thought about illustration or selling my art that way. I just considered it a side non-profit hobby, but its definately worth looking into when I have a bit more time. Thanks for the suggestion though. By the way, how do you sell your art? Through art fairs or...? (I'm a bit vague on how selling art works in real life).

I'm doing my BFA, and then either my MFA or BEducation so that I can teach. I can still do art.. and teach at the same time, so the idea appeals to me. Mwaha.

Very few online artists I know of make money. Ursula Vernon (*worship*) and then a few others who do cartoony stuff (Shoomlah for example who works for neopets). But it's not really a liveable income from what I know of unless you're doing illustrative pieces. Even artists who work with digital media have a hard time thus far making a living in comparison to traditional artists, but ah well. The media will come into it's own soon enough.

My art? Mainly private sales/commisions. Right now i'm doing a lot of painting of model horses, i'm not sure if it counts as art, but at 65 a pop for a mini one, it's not so bad. Plus it's enjoyable work. I still don't think i'll get involved with digital media though, too much new stuff for me to learn.

Thanks for the illo, Zoo! I love it! I know I told you in PM but I thought I'd throw in my $.02 on your thread, it's a fabulous picture of Felonious! I shall put it on his pet lookup for all the world to see. :D Making sense of some of the aquatic pets isn't easy, and water really is hard to draw. I think you did a great job on both counts.
Thanks muchly!

ahoteinrun - Yeah that's what I heard from digital art too - few people earn money from it, and even rarer are those who make large bucks out of it (then again, I know very few artists online and/or in real life who make money). I really admire those who can make a living out of artwork, but I think why I chose to do a BA was so I can snag a more secure job, cause I definately dont have their type of talent :P Artwork as a hobby is fine with me, though its interesting to know what paths other people have taken.

I hope one day digital media will have a larger role in the economy, but traditional media does deserve its niche, for being something a lot more substantial than digital-ised pics.

Kess - XD Aw.. thank you! I based him off a normal shark design (as you can see from the fins) but then tried to incorporate a jetsam and then got really confused *koff* I'm honoured his pic is up on his lookup *snugs*

Just a heads up, I'd love to update with artwork, but Im going to be away for a week starting from this Saturday - its my study break and I'll be back with my parents, no internet access for me! I'll see you guys next Sunday *luffles*

Digital art does have a big role in the economy... considering how big the internet and whatnot is. It's just not in the "fine arts" world that it's really profitable.

Are you per chance Canadian? I'm on my reading break as well (leaving Lethbridge in 5... 4.... 3... well you get the point). I'm going home as well. But i'll still be around. Must go home... see dogs... eat cake... mmm... cake...

XD; I guess I underestimated it then. You're right about its role in the internet, I wonder if traditional 'fine art' and digital art will ever combine and/or compromise.

Yes, I actually am Canadian. o_o I'm studying at Mcgill in Montreal, but I went back to Vancouver for my study break. That's funny, my friend at UBC had her study break a week earlier. I went back to .. basically take care of my family and my brother. It wasn't as fun T_T

*cramming madly for exams now that I'm back*

Topher - @_@ Ah.. thank you! I still have issues with a lot of my anatomy and lineart, but I'll keep on trying to improve!

Nice Gads image, Zoo. I like the humor of the pets all getting owned by the fruit because they pulled the "do not pull" string. XD Very shiny...I like teh shiny. :D

What text did you you to write your name on that image? *wants to add it to her collection*

Happy - XD; I guess I had fun with Ayakyu (the 'vampire bunny')'s pose. Now... I just need to get the motivation to lineart the entire thing x_x

Armi - XD Thanks! I'm glad you understood what was going on in the pic, I think I made it just a bit too shiney. SHINEY ART = distracticisms from all the errors I have in it :P

The font I used btw is called 'redensek'. I got it of dafont.com :3

The blumaroo gargoyle is a nice original idea. And it came out really well. I like the difference of texture between the stone and the petpet's feathers.

Ah-ha I know who's pet that is and I found out who's pet the draik image was. Pretty cool you drew their pets, Zoo.
I really love the design on the blumaroo. I can't wait to see it on her look up. =D

Sorry I didn't update in a while. I was actually advertising in the BC all week, and really didn't do much else but that. The good thing is I did do quite well - phew Im not doing that again for a long long time. x_x

Kess - thank you :3! I attempted some wierd things with the texture, hopefully people can recognise its stone x_x I love the dancing lenny in your sig btw :P

Armi - XD! Thanks about the blumaroo and wow I guess everyone knows this owner. I think she has a nice pic already on her lookup, but its always nice finishing a good picture <3
