Oh, for Coltzan's sake I have this won't be rushed..! The artwork I've seen related to Altador has been topnotch, and I'd be crushed if it all went to waste on a terrible plot...

Agreed. Especially since I don't have the right Flash plugin for them.

You know, I'd like it to incorporate a little of both. Moreso a battle one than a puzzle, though. Not really a personal reason for me; I don't care for battling nor hoarding, but I could go along with a puzzle or 'support' like in the last Maraquan deal. Wish it could have all of that, but I'm probably asking too much (not meaning to be rude, either; really, I imagine a simple plot can be hard to pull off).

Call me a warmongerer, but I hope it's just a war this time. The puzzles are too hard to follow if you're a casual player. The Haunted Woods plot sounds most appealing to me, personally. :)

I'm hoping for a war this time, too. Can someone explain what the whole rank thing was in the last war? Out of suriousity, I looked up the chalengers for the last war in IDB, and saw that they went with different ranks. How did they determine rank? Also, what was the whole poisoning deal someone mentioned earlier?

I'm really not sure how they determined ranks exactly but it was something like str + def + HP and if it fell into a certain range then it was rank 1, next range rank 2 etc.

and the poisoning thing was where the first challengers poisoned you almost every battle which was annoying because you had to keep healing yourself with medicine or springs after every battle.

What did poisoning actually DO, though? It looks really annoying, but there might have been a purpose for it.

x.x No purpose, you were poisoned, and to fight again, had to buy a dramatically overpriced cure or visit the healing springs, often multiple times, in order to go back to gaining more war points. It was awful.

The mere mention of possibly having ranks again can sometimes cause hundreds of players to suddenly snap into a murderous rage. They were that bad. There were three ranks and you were ranked according to the stats of the pet you signed up with to battle. The problem was that there were way to few ranks and players were not awarded points for defeating opponents outside of their rank. For me, this meant I got 35 points in about an hour whereas in previous wars I earned around 2000 over the entire course of the war. They also did not vary prizes by rank so my 35 rank 2 points earned the same prize as someone in rank 1 with 35 points and a considerably weaker pet.

The support role was made difficult by choosing quest items from a tiny group which caused many to skyrocket in price even to unbuyable. The games you could play to earn points also had very high scores to even qualify for a point. Plus, you could only do a small number of quests each day. Basically most supporters would have earned more points if they had chosen to battle because they were under the assumption that with the split battling would cater to stronger pets. Supporters also were ranked and received different trophies accordingly, but to this day TNT has not revealed how they came up with supporting ranks.

I like to option of being able to choose how I can participate, but the final result was disastrous on both sides. I want a war, but I'm leary of what other stupid ways they might come up with to infuriate me.

Great post Huggles. I was a supporter last time and it was dumb how they awarded points. I could play a game and get more war points than say donating 2 codestones or bottled fairys.

What kind of items did they ask for? If they asked for codestones/faeries, that would make them skyrocket to unbelievable heights.

That's dumb. People need those to train. They should be asking for items that no one uses, like those R86-89 foods. Too high for Kitchen quests, too low for Gourmet. Just pointless.

I would be more concerned with the video game, which is the well all of this has sprung from. I'm more disappointed with that story actually. the ending at least. lots of potential for story. Cest la vie.
