Crap crap crap crap CRAP.

With Skies over Merridel gone, my income is gone. With most of the the games from Tyrannia and Central removed, the games I still play will be crowded.

What the hell is with Neopets and World Challenge? They're making the prices go up and hoarders rich.

I've been thinking about this all evening and I just get angrier and angrier at the nonsensical unfairness of it all. I'd write more, but it would be full of swear words and PPT frowns on that, heh. I will say that I joined Neopets mainly for the games. I have been playing since August of 2000, and last year was the first year I had more than 10 million NP in my bank account, thanks to World Challenges. I'm not a restocker; I can't make 100k a day like many of them do. WCs were finally a way for me to earn a little money. Still not a ton, compared to the restockers -- I'll never be able to buy a 300 million NP super attack pea or even a 40 million jade scorchstone -- but a decent amount. And now even that has been ripped away from me. Sometimes I don't know how I've remained so loyal to the site through all these disappointments.

You took the words right out of my mouth. It makes me feel like they are atting me personally, the games they took away were the only games I had a slight chance of getting peices on. *fumes*

Everyone seems to be complaining about their source of income but let me say this without the WC, gamers will be making next to nothing.

Compared to the 1337 restockers/resellers/traders, even with the WC, gamers make next to nothing. We who, for whatever reason -- be it a slow connection, slow reflexes (for typing in those numbers and clicking fast), not really knowing what to rs (you know many people lose alot unless they're rs'ing new and ub and selling the new stuff quick), or who are just not well known -- those people could sell ice to an eskimo -- DO depend on games for the bulk of our np income.

The WC maps we EARN by playing over and over to get all the pieces and then try to sell for a decent price are one of the few ways for us to make more np. It's not like we get another 1k or anything for winning a piece, it's usually just a few hundred extra np along with the piece.

So this only being able to earn 3 pieces a day, the pieces being completely random, showing up in our inventory (where they could be stolen by a bad RE quicker than we can move them), ending up with 2 or 3 of the same piece and trying to trade for the ones we need or selling, then having to pay more for a harder to get piece just discourages the gamers in general and those of us who are only good at a few games and enter the WC in those games in particular.

If it's this hard to complete a WC1, how many people are going to go through converting it, then going through the pulling teeth method of getting pieces for WC2, then having to go through it all AGAIN for WC3 so we can start over with 1.

These changes will not stop hoarding or cheating. If anything, it's going to make it harder for us honest players to get a full map. The team thing explanation I never even knew about before. I have seen people cheating using multiple accounts and yes, I do report them for cheating. But why should the rest of us have to suffer because a few people don't want to play fair?

ARGH.

I completely agree with everyone who's furious about these changes. It was bad enough a few days ago when they started awarding random pieces - I managed to get 2 pieces shortly after that, and both were ones I already had. I gave up after that.

But now they've taken away the only games I ever stood a chance at winning (which is very few anyway). The ones that are left, which I suck at, are going to be so crowded with players, I might as well not even bother.

And THREE PIECES a day? If that isn't a blatant attempt to throw the Neopian economy even further out of whack, I don't know what is. Now not only do we have to either play for weeks at a time or pay through the nose to get the pieces we need, we also have to deal with their rarity soaring through the roof because we can only earn THREE FREAKING PIECES A DAY. Combine that with the absolutely insane reduction in games that are "popular" enough to have survived the cut, and it's gonna be pretty much impossible for the majority of gamers to actually complete a picture anymore. Not without wasting weeks and weeks on gaming or blowing our bank accounts, anyway.

Way to reward the rich hoarders and punish the honest gamers, TNT.

I can't believe this.

I'm certainly sitting here wishing I hadn't redeemed my NC2 picture... Price has probably increased significantly already... Too lazy to check :)

There's a perfectly reasonable business explanation for why TNT wouldn't want people to get a whole lot of money from games: When you do a World Challenge, you generate 3 or 4 pageviews for one hour. When you restock, you generate probably a pageview every few seconds, maybe thousands in an hour. THAT'S why they want people to restock, or play Neoquest II, etc.

WoW! Came on today and what big changes to WC. I play WC to complete all the maps, but am only good at Defender Trainer. Using Defender Trainer maps to get to other maps. Now, it's harder 'cause all the gamer will have to play it to get their map! *sigh*

And I'm a restocker. Not only the prices of food is at an all time low, now more people will be restocking since they can't get their income from WC. *sigh*

:peace:

This made me so angry that I had to make an account just to rant.

So I get back from school and go to play my favourite game, 200m Peanut Dash. I get a score of 1020 and decide it's good enough to enter. But alas, it came up with an error.
I check the news then read the FAQ. So only the popular games can now be played? (and a random unpopular one) this annoys me, Peanut Dash WAS fairly popular. Every time I played there would be at least 6 people entered each hour.

Now there are just a few for each world and the only one I have a chance at is Hasee Bounce. But now that there are less games to choose from, more people will enter each challenge, making it harder for me to win.

:x I also saw a board by a monitor saying 'unpopular games not removed, just rotated' like it makes a difference, if an unpopular game is selected heaps of people will play that too. :x

Yep, this is complete outrage and I am glad every single one of you who have posted feels the same exact way.

I don't give a bloody heaping care if they're on a rotation, it's UNFAIR TO PLAYERS WHO PLAY THESE "non-popluar" GAMES!!!!!!

I want to ask this - when is the Neopets team going to pull their heads out of (not putting this here)'s and actually see where this site is going?! The stupid things they're doing and constantly allowing, because it's SO UNFAIR they do this to Gamers but they don't give a damn about making complete and utterly sure that AUTOBUYERS can't AUTOBUY anymore, be it from Neopian Shops or Usershops, ANYTHING. :x!!!!!!!!!!!:x

Although i don't tend to play many WC games anymore, they were always fun to do when i was bored with other things on the site. The way they currently have things set up, i doubt i'll even bother playing any WC at all.

I personally only play Meerca Chase II at the WC's and I used to earn a piece with it every time I played it, I'm not really good at the game, but I was almost always able to keep a positive tally and get one of the highest total scores... So for me, it would seem like not too much has changed, since I only play it for maximum 3 hours a day...

But even for a "casual" WC player like me this new measures mean the end of my picture-collecting... Cause right now, everyone who used to play the "less popular" games, now plays the popular games too, yesterday there were 36 people competing, while the maximum I had ever seen before was like 30, so it just makes it harder for hard working people like us (when I play, I play the game constantly, otherwise it's not possible to get the highest total score) to earn some neopoints with this..

So yes, you can put an extra signature on the "we want the old WC rules back" petition!

The FAQ/What's New page still says we can only earn three pieces per day -- and early yesterday when I tried to enter the Volcano Run WC it told me something like "sorry, you can only earn 3 pieces per day" and wouldn't let me enter -- but I noticed that all games are now letting people enter as many times as they want. Call me a naive optimist, but I'm hoping this is intentional and that TNT rethought the "three pieces per day" thing. Something like that would be okay if pieces still went directly into our picture, because in that case at least we'd be getting three useful pieces per day, but it's just ridiculous to limit us to three totally random pieces. I have five of some piece and none of others! And I tried trading my double/triple/quadrupleyquintupley pieces away, and no one wanted them.

I still don't get the point of the high score tables. What are they for, just bragging rights? Because people who regularly play a WC already know who the "top players" are. And if the "three pieces per day" thing is actually supposed to still be happening, won't all the top people just be tied anyway?

I wonder if they actually expected people to like these changes. So far, I haven't seen anyone (here, on the Neoboards, or elsewhere) who's happy with the new rules.
