This is a great idea, glad us non-Premiums have it now. Pity we can't set different 4 digit passwords for different sections though.

What would be the point? Unless you wanted to allow someone else access to your acct, but limit their actions.

If you have the pin number set up any scammer who guesses your password or uses a cookie grabber or anything like that can't actually do anything while in your account, they can't steal anything without having your pin number too.

Thinking about it, it would be good to have pin numbers for the neoboards (don't know exactly how that would be done though), guild boards and to edit any sort of descriptions so scammers couldn't get scammed accounts frozen by breaking the rules that way. Pin number would also be good for the account removal page.

I'm sorry, I meant why have different pins for different sections. I understand the idea of the pin in the first place:)

I agree with C_...that would be a bit much. If you're dumb enough to give away your password AND your pin (which cannot be plucked by cookie grabbers or any other method, so you have to willingly tell people what it is), then you deserve to lose your account's contents.

You can't have PINs for everything, or else the site wouldn't be playable anymore. I think TNT did a good job of putting PINs on the most important things, to keep most of your items safe. The point isn't to put a PIN on everything so that people can get into your account and not do anything.

Well, while it's true you can't have PINs on everything, you also get to pick where you want your PINs. Therefore, I think it's better to err on the side of offering more PINs, not less.

For example, a frequent user of the Neoboards might not want it PINed. However, I've only posted to the Neoboards once -- to get the Squak avatar -- and I'd be perfectly happy to PIN it to keep a hacker from getting me frozen by posting junk on the Neobaords. It wouldn't bother me to have the PIN since I never post anyway.

My pin isnt hard to forget. Its the same number I use every day on my garage door opener so Im all set

I would like it on making a lot/accepting a trade on the TP. Also on withdrawing NP from your till.

I love the extra security. It makes me feel MUCH safer

I'm loving the PIN, myself. I haven't found it at all inconvenient, even for things I do everyday, like withdrawing from the bank. It takes 2 seconds to type it in, and I feel much better knowing that if someone does manage to get into my account somehow, they won't be able to clean it out or abandon my pets. I'm willing to give TNT a big "YAY!" on this one.

Me in a dress - that's a once in a lifetime opportunity

I see multiple PINs as a way of ensuring that even if someone managed to guess the PIN for one section (potentially possible if people are using PINs that are their birth dates, phone numbers, etc particularly if the person breaking into the account isn't a complete stranger) they don't have access to all the others. At current they manage to guess the PIN and they have just as much access as if you didn't have any PINs. More PINs would take more time to guess which would allow more time to contact TNT and request they freeze your account so you can get it back.

I'm not suggesting people need multiple PINs so they can give PIN numbers to scammers. And, because it would all be optional, those who didn't want to have to remember multiple PINs or have certain sections of the site blocked wouldn't have to.

That's like 5 passwords to remember, though. Enough is enough.

And as I said, "those who didn't want to have to remember multiple PINs or have certain sections of the site blocked wouldn't have to". I personally have no issues with remembering multiple passwords.
