This has just really been bothering me for a while and I thought well maybe the good ppt community is good at giving advice.

I sorta have a crush on my teacher/advisor (female) who less than ten years older. this teacher probably hangs out with students more than other teachers at school, in fact probably more than ive ever seen before. I was thinking if its appropriate to take a teacher to a hockey game? what do you think? also how do i get this crush thing out of the way which seems impossible. It would be easier if this teacher wasnt so friendly with students, but she is. Sorry if its difficult to read/understand.

Thanks for your help.

Stay away from student/teacher relationships, or friendships. They shoudl stay in school only, and be professional.

One of my friends is quite good friends with our English teacher. If it wasn't for the fact that he's gay, I would actually be really worried about their friendship.

That's most likely very inappropriate. Teachers/advisers are usually not allowed to have relationships with students, especially their own, as part of school policy.

Just because they did it in Top Gun doesn't mean you can get away with it in real life. ;)

Don't be afraid to see the truth, even if no one wants you to. Be yourself and not a fool. Don't ever be afraid to speak your mind and listen to criticism. Dissent is keeps our country progressive and willingness to challenge yourself is what keeps yourself ever evolving.

Don't do it. It's very possible you could ruin their career if you started dating them. Staying friends is good, but I wouldn't invite them anywhere unless you were suggesting a class field trip.

Oh, friendships are fine. I'm really good friends with all the teachers in the music department (though that's 'cause I've gone on 2 music tours with them, and I live down in that area xD). It's when the friendship goes outside of school where it's questionable - and it'll reflect back on the teacher.

Yeah, any sort of relationship out of school is going to look suspicious to outsiders whether it is innocent or not. Unfortunately, I think you'd be best to avoid it (innocent or not) and not risk it.

Definitely not a good idea. Very big chance she'd lose her job, you see stuff like this in the news all the time.

ok thanks for your help, but how do I get my mind off the distraction? If I could do that there would be no problems.

It doesn't exactly work that way, new question:

It is fine to take a teacher to a hockey game on friendly terms?

No. Teachers have their own friends they like to do stuff with. In most institutions, it is against the rules to date/take out/whatever anyone you work with. In a way, that's the same thing. Teachers' work lives should end when they leave school, and it's as simple as that. Just ask Mary Kay LeTourneau.

No. If you want to get over her, you need to get your mind off her and move on. A teacher is your elder, your authority figure. She is not like your regular friends, nor are you like hers. My main advice for you is to just let it go.
