I still don't understand why this is a problem. It didn't prevent anyone else from earning their own 2.1 piece, as this change does.

Thats the thing, if you played games you could still earn your own piece, but the scammers making 2.1 unbuyable meant that those ppl who bought the maps ( instead of playing games) had no choice than to pay the inflated prices on the TP.

Many ppl buy the maps but never play the games, or they buy a map for a world where they cannot get a high enough score to win pieces..

Yeah, but this change isn't going to solve that problem. Now people aren't able to keep earning a specific piece (let's say 2.1) over and over, which means there aren't going to be as many of that piece in Neopia. Now it's even easier for some hoarder to come along, buy up every single low-to-mid-priced 2.1 piece on the wiz, and charge a fortune for them -- and now, not only non-gamers will have to pay for it, but also gamers who can't just go earn that piece on their own anymore. Now there will be more demand for certain pieces and less of a supply! It's going to make things worse than they were before.

I agree this will not solve the problem this will only make the prices rocket faster. I am an average player and can only get peices in a few games. This will make it harder to finish the maps therefore the rich continure to get richer and the poor stay poor.

Ok, I somehow was able to get the last piece I needed to complete a map. WC1 ... and I'm about half-way done another.

Now I wonder do I sell the completed one now? Wait? With this change in how the pieces come to you and the total randomness, I'm not sure I'm going to bother even entering the WC anymore. I may just sell the half map -- forget about completing that one and the completed one just hold onto for awhile.

The first change, when it went from being able to get multiple pieces to one piece I really didn't mind. I thought it was fair, to be honest. Then there were a few small changes, but nothing that would stop me from continuing to enter. The last change with the 3 different ways to win and less people able to get pieces actually made it harder for me, though I've kept on trying ... but this latest change? Nope, not having it.

Why should we give 100 np and compete for the hour, trying our best each hour and each game, when there's no guarantee we'll ever be able to complete the map(s) of our choice without having to keep playing the same games over and over (without getting any np after our official 3 plays) and getting lucky with the pieces earned or having to buy those last pieces needed?

The bottom line here is very clear to me. You play games, you "compete" with other players, you win pieces. That's the nature of the world challenge. The trading of said pieces is a secondary aspect of world challenges. I don't feel traders (hoarders) should be dealt with at the expense of the players.

end of story.

I should probably test this myself except I seem to have lost my old skill of winning neopia central pieces since I stopped playing, but does this change mean that I can start earning neopia central pieces again even though I've got 1&2 converted?

I'd hope not to be honest. No offense to you, but if that is the case, it would cause havoc on Brushes and Rare pets that you can get from them. :(

I believe everyone needs to post this topic in his or her guild and petion your guildies to complain about this. Right now it seems to be sort of a 3 out of every 5 people disagree with this descion by TNT. But reguardless, let's get more people mailing TNT because this is just unfair and let's people gauge the market even more.

Arrgh this rediculous. I play World Challenges so that I can complete the maps, not just for the individual peices to sell, so this is going to make it ten times more difficult. I'm currently trying to complete my first Terror Mountain map, and the only game I'm semi-good at is Igloo Garage Sale. For some reason the scores other perople have been getting have just got a lot higher all of a sudden, so getting a peice can be difficult as it is. Now I might just be getting a peice I've already earned....arrrgh *goes to complain in editorial*

I've noticed that what you can trade a full WC picture for (~600K), is more than most of the prizes you get for completing it. Perhaps this is the start of a correction for that. The nps/hour ratio for WC pieces seems to be relatively high, too. I'm really enjoying the income, but I've been worried that it will change.

I actually think with this change that the full maps will end up getting more expensive. Why? Because now the pieces earned will be "too" random - you could play the same world games let's say 6 times and you win all 6 times. With the way the WC was set up, you'd get 6 different pieces to help complete your map. Now, you could end up with the same 6 pieces. Not very efficient or encouraging for putting in the time and effort, is it? As to the np/hour ratio, again, it probably depends on which WC game, how many people, etc. I normally, if I place, only end up with around 150 extra np along with the 1 map piece.

Plus, I've already talked to people who are just refusing to even bother entering the WC anymore with the new change. So less pieces that way.

The only higher priced maps I've seen are the more rare complete maps - tyrannia, meridell, etc.. But I personally haven't seen any sell for more than 600k. The most I've sold a map for was an haunted woods for 530k.

I submitted something to the editorial about this. It doesn't seem right at all. I'm not going to do the WC until they change it back, if they do at all. I hardly have the time to play as it is. Now that I'm not going to get the pieces I need, I'm wasting my time.

Oops, you're right about the price; the last one I traded was for 530K (lost desert 1). I'd be thrilled if this drive the prices up! I'm worried that this is step 1 in TNT's evil plan to drive the prices down.

The np/hr ratio I was talking about is spending 1-2 hours earning 1 picture piece, and then selling it for 25K. It's lots easier to get a piece since the 2nd-to-last rules change.

One thing to keep in mind with this, though, is that if you get a duplicate piece, it won't affect you as much as some might think.

You may have to buy a piece to fill out your map, but you'll also have a few duplicates. They don't sell quickly, but map pieces DO sell, and so you'll get thousands of neopoints in the process. I think this is actually better, rather than worse.

Look at it this way:

Before you would pick up 20 map pieces and get, say, a paint brush worth 300k, plus your payouts for your games (1k np each, so 20k np) and your jackpot payouts (probably around 500 np each, so 10k). That makes 330k total if you collect your maps and sell your PB.

Now, you get a few extra map pieces on your way. You'll still eventually get your map pieces, so you still get that 300k NP from selling the paint brush. You'll also get your payouts and jackpots, so that's going to be another 30k NP guaranteed.

But if you get duplicates, you'll get between 15-35k per extra map piece. You may have to buy one map piece, but it will be a wash because you'll get that money back by selling your duplicates. If you get multiple duplicates, but you only need one piece, then all of a sudden you're making 15-35k profit on each map.

I think another thing worth noting, is that more people are going to be likely to sell their map pieces rather than stick it out to the end (at least, that's my opinion). That will drive map piece prices down, because of the increased supply.

I can see the argument behind being upset about this change, but I think in the long run it will mean more money for WC gamers, not less.

Those of us who make the bulk of our income from WCs don't convert -- there's much more of a chance of getting a stupid glowing or checkered pb than there is getting one worth several hundred thousand NP. Plus, once you convert a map, you can no longer earn that map's pieces anymore, which effectively cuts off our income. Most of us make our cash by collecting a full map (winning 20 WC competitions) and selling it as a set on the TP. I can get about 390-400k for a Tyrannia series II map that way. But if I sell individual pieces in my shop, I get a lot less for them. Plus, when I put a full map in my trades, it normally sells in 5-10 minutes, but when I put individual pieces in my shop, they can take days and days to sell. So all this change is doing is making it take much longer for me to complete full maps. I have all these doubles sitting around that are useless to me until I need to start on a new map and can put them in.

Has anyone been watching the pieces they win? I've won 2 since they go to inventory. My picture has 5 pieces missing, and both of the 2 I won were missing pieces. Maybe they will award the ones we are missing.

This should prevent that problem where I forget to empty my picture and don't get a new piece when I win.
