I totally agree. I find it amazing that there are still places lucky enough to be 'untouched' by man. So many new and pretty birds.

Ohh, the tree kangaroo is awesome. It's pretty cool. It's nice to know there are areas like that still around, though I'm sure some day it'll be taken over too. e_e

Especially this one. I'm really glad this area's protected (the fact that it was virtually untouched by humans surprised me)- oh, they better not revoke that protection anytime soon.

That looks exactly like one of the bowerbirds I saw on a David Attenborough DVD. I couldn't find a good picture of it, but it has an orange tuft thingy (although you can't see it on the pic) instead of a yellow one.

The yellow-headed bird seems to be making a similar bower. I guess they're related.

It be amazing to see a part of the world we haven't had the chance to screw up yet.

It's wonderfull, but I just hope they keep it more or less secret. I can't imagine what damage 'collectors' will go and do there with animals just to pick up.

It's one of the most inaccessible places on earth at the moment. Very few people know it well, and you have to fly in by helicopter. Stastically, it's easier to go to Antarctica then it is to go to these mountains. Cost alone will probably keep all but the most adventuresome away.

Untouched by Mankind?

I say they put up signs or something warning people that there is some dangerous toxic substance inside or there is an outbreak of bird flu in the area or something. Or "Nuclear Radiation Testing Facility Ahead, very dangerous, do not enter!" "Old Mine Field Ahead, very dangerous, enter at own risk!" Just signs, no fences, just signs that lie so people won't go near the place. Of course, they'd have to be signs that people could understand...or be able to read..if they can.. Well I would say put a Harry Potter style spell on it so people forget it is there or so they never see it or suddenly feel a strong undeniable urge that they have left there stove on at home and MUST go now! Anything to keep people out of there!

I love the pictures though, I wouldn't mind seeing more new animals. But as soon as the pictures come out someone decides that that cool rare bird must become their pet or something, when they have no idea what it even eats or how to take care of it and it will probably die a day after they get it.
