Meresged: Keep the scarab ring! Scrap the other two scarab items and the obsidian dagger. If you can stand slogging through NQ2 again, the Evil prizes are all pretty good, and only cost time instead of np's! I'd concentrate on training a bit. Strength/defence get "boosts" at 35,55,85,etc. By the 85 boosts, you'll notice a marked improvement!
Faerie abilities:
Burrow: blocks everything except light and dark(one use per battle)
Sink: blocks everything except earth and air( one use per battle)
Regeneration or Restore: Heals 33% of lost HP's
Drain Life: drains opponent's HP's (11% ? ) and uses them to heal you
Fiery Gaze or Diamond Dust: may freeze opponent

I've listed these in the order I value them. Keep in mind, they use "power" during battle. You can use 3 abilities/ fight, but after the 3rd, you cannot alter your attack stance.

Wow...last time I posted on this board they said to GET the obsidian dagger!
Also, I'm in the middle of playing NQ2 at easy, then I'll move up to Evil/Insane. Is it really that much harder? Or just more time consuming?

Meresged: Actually the dagger and the other scarab items aren't BAD... they're just not in the same league as your wand or the NQ2 weapons. I feel that the price range you listed is very well represented by Halo of Devilpuss, which you could win at Evil NQ2. (Or, one of the top two Evil prizes, which are even better!) The benefits of training at this point would outweigh weapon upgrades, and since you'll need to train anyway...
As far as NQ2- Evil isn't much harder, but you need to be at approx. 1-2 levels higher- the enemies have more HP. Insane calls for much more caution and overtraining, since if you party dies, you start over from the beginning! I highly recommend the IDNQ -great maps and the guide by edfdavis... EXCEPT concerning point allocation: for that, archive the article in issue 185 of the neopian times. The normal difficulty prizes stink, so if you've already beat it at normal, I'd re-start at Evil. Good luck!

I have had several attempts at beating the Meerca brothers, but don't seem to be able to. Can anyone suggest which would be the best weapons to have?

My weapons are:
Immense Rubber Axe of Doom
Fire Snow
Snowball Slingshot
Honey Potion
Noxious Nectar
Illusens Earth Potion
Scarab Ring
Greater Healing Scroll

My pets stats are:
Species : Skeith (lab rat)
Colour : Maraquan
Gender : Male
Age : 1035 days
Level : 19

Health : 0 / 329
Mood : delighted!
Hunger : bloated
Strength : LEGENDARY (120)
Defence : heavy
Move : EXCELLENT (42)

I only had to get another 26 hitpoints of them when they froze me again and they took 129 Hitpoints from me. In the first round I managed to freeze with Fiery Gaze and they froze me. So no gain

My abilities are:
Heal, Fiery Gaze, Shadow Health, Dive, Magic Berries, Burrow and Drain Life.

Blame it on the boogie!

Hmm, my post seems to have gotten lost. I have updated stats anyway....

Any recommendations for a basic set for a beginning 1-player battledome player? Weapons I already have includes two Scarab Rings, two Obsidian Daggers, a Lupe Reflector Shield, and a Leaf Shield (wasn't sure which shield was better). I have a handful of abilities, but none of the "good" ones (level 1 fire, level 1 dark, and levels 1 and 2 light).

Also, I'm not zapping him, so he should stay a Lupe for a very long time. Unless I give in and turn him into a Mutant Gelert....

Species: Lupe
Level : 16
Gender : Male
Hit Points : 9 / 15 (stupid Wheel of Mediocricy...)
Strength : GREAT (21)
Defence : very heavy
Movement : super speedy
Intelligence : average

Also, any recommended war weapons will be taken into consideration, because I'd rather buy all that stuff now while it's still cheap(-ish). I'm only looking to spend 200-250k tops, though....

Well, since you have a lupe, there is ancient lupe wand as a freezer BUT this is fragile.

So, let's see, you need a shield - have 2, that would depend on your opponent ... the lupe shield is light and dark; leaf shield is earth, water and physical; a freezer - consider a frost cannon (black); a healer - lesser healing scroll (25 hp) unless you're training, then spend the extra for a greater healing scroll (50 hp), a bomb - illusens earth potion, once per battle, but it doesn't break forever

shield
illusens earth potion
healer
freezer
scarab ring x2
obsidian dagger
If you can find one cheap (they do seem to be dropping) halo of devilpuss
or cloudy wand of storms or iron lupe sword (again, only if you're keeping the pet a lupe)

Just some ideas for you

Thanks, I'll take all that into consideration. Just one question:

I'm confused. Is the earth potion a one-use item, like the snowballs, or will a single bottle last me for mutliple battles?

It's once per battle (use it and it disappears just for that battle), but you'll have it again for your next battle. I love multiple use weapons and one use/every battle weapons, really dislike one time only weapons. I'd rather save up for a weapon that I can use again than IMHO waste np on snowballs and muffins.

I assume you're labbing, Locetic? If so, keep labbing until your pet has the 125 strength boost (you'll notice a nice difference in the amount of damage your pet deals). Then if you like you can stop labbing for a while and bring your level up to 164 (eep) and then work on defence.

My pet was similarly unbalanced after labbing, and I opted to raise his level and strength (and later, HP again) and forget about defence entirely because of time and NP considerations. I get by okay with full blockers or reflectors, which aren't dependent on defence boost, but if you want a balanced pet that can make good use of normal shields, defence is definitely useful.

As for your weapons, they're good, but you should most definitely add Downsize! if you don't already have it, and some sort of freezer. If you have a lot of NP, H4000 Helmet is going for around 5 mil. If you don't want to spend that much, get a species one or a black frost cannon. Also, healing-wise, red scorchstone is absolutely useless to you at this level... really, if you have more than 200 HP you need a good per cent healer, and only Lennies, Gelerts, Kacheeks and Elephantes have those. You could use a greater healing scroll for a 50 HP heal (which still isn't enough, but is better than 20). It's supposedly breakable, but there's been some debate about that -- people have used them several hundred times without a break. Also, a bomb would be nice. Now is a good time to buy Honey Potion because it's only 700k.

Anyway, a good set:

-scuzzys comb (main attacker)
-staff of rightous fury (main attacker)
-ring of the lost (backup/dark defense)
-honey potion (bomb)
-black frost cannon or h4000 helmet (freezer)
-species healer/ghs (healer)
-purple sticky hand (stealer), a blocker/reflector, or random one-use bomb, depending
-downsize! (defense)

And faerie abilities every battler should have:

-burrow (blocker)
-sink (blocker)
-drain life (steals 11% of opponent's HP -- up to 100)
-restore, regeneration or healing vapour (heals 33% of lost hp)
-fiery gaze or diamond dust (chance of freezing opponent)
-quench (blocks all fire)
-boil or water breathing (blocks all water)
-steam shield (blocks all light)

yeah i have been labbing, have gotten then 125 str boost now and got up a few more lvls, i had the red scortchstone since i had 50 hp i no i needed to upgrade it, thanx for the advice though cranberry, i think i will lvl up and increase my defence, and get probably black frost cannon for right now and maybe the honey potion, i think i do got a greater healing scroll around somewhere. And i have all faerie abilities i'll make sure those are the active ones though. thanks again.

any advice on how to beat the ghostkerchief i think, the one for defenders of neopia ghost something around lvl 9 ??
