Why exactly are people on the BD Boards at Neo (I should learn to avoid that place, I really should) crying out for the ROTL to be downgraded? o_O

Oh the BDC is fun - I lurk there often. OK, the people I've seen asking/demanding that RotL be downgraded either didn't do the plot, so no chance to get one that way, can't afford one atm or do alot of 2 player battles and have the high end SOS/GShield combo. The ring (I haven't tried this - don't do 2 player battles) apparently cuts SOS down to size. So, they see this as unfair. They also seem (some of them) to have a thing against this being a puzzle plot and not an all out war and can't understand why a plot would end up awarding nice prizes when normally in a war, only the top, what .1% get anything worthwhile.

I did end up buying the RotL with my plot points and I am going to be looking for a RWR for my gallery. I don't plan on spending more than 800K on it - some of the TP prices are just ridiculous, I've been watching the auctions - 800 to 850k is about the price they're selling for.

The books, I'm surprised that they've gone down in price so quickly. I would anticipate that they will slowly rise again over time. The PB I was SO tempted to buy, but then I couldn't have gotten the ring.

I still have 38,300 points to spend ... just trying to figure out on what.

Oh did anyone catch the news tonight and the reference made to the furniture moving? That would be sweet if we got some points added for that section.

Well, in fairness, I understand the downgrade pressure. I tend to think it shouldn't be downgraded because I won it and I know how much work it was to do the plot.

On the other hand it could have a real effect on the entire BD economy. The GShield sold for 7.9 million a few days ago but looks less attractive with the ring out there (shield's main claim to fame is blocking all dark) so maybe it goes down in value. SOS itself is less attractive with both the GSHield and Ring out there so maybe it goes down in value. And that makes it hard since comparable weapon with strength of SOS is the PCC and it costs 5 million more. And, if it retires then the price goes up a lot.

So a lot of the concern about the ROTL is the impact it will have on other weapons and their values...

Isn't that the point of releasing new weapons, though? The battledome would be really boring if everyone of a certain level had an SoS. I think it's a good idea to shake things up some. Also, in response to the people who think this is unfair for a non-war plot, this required a LOT of effort and was extremely time-consuming. After what I've seen, the people who got the great prizes definitely deserved them. I only wish I had rejoined Neopets a few months earlier and gotten in on this. :(

i got 179300 points and missed out on the 2 false steps. I was holding off on buying anything till the rings were active. Bought one RotL, one Handy Spike Pit and 4 Kar keychains, 3 to sell and 1 to keep.

I'm really tempted to sell since i'm not really a heavy duty battledomer but i remember the time where i sold off my honey potion for 400k when it was still a good selling price and decided to keep the RotL

The SoS and G-Shield will not go down in value.

The SoS gets you the most icons for the least amount of NP, and pwns all in 1-player bd. Furthermore, because it's a hidden tower weapon, the price is going to be stable. If you look at the worse hidden tower items, their actual value is only a few hundred thousand points below what they sell for in the hidden tower. Sure, it might get used less - but it won't cost a significant amount less.

The G-Shield is still the best shield out there. Sure, the full dark defense is given in the ring of the lost, but what's important about the g-shield is that it blocks not only all dark, but air, earth, light, and physical. The only icons that can beat a g-shield are fire and water. Whereas, any weapon that doesn't do dark icons can beat a ring of the lost. One of the high-end staples, PCC, gets completey through a ring of the lost, but is partially blocked by the g-shield. And again, applying the fact that the price won't go down because it's a hidden tower weapon is proof enough that the value won't go down.

Besides, G-Shield, G-Bomb, and SoS are rumored to retire soon. The price has only one way to go - up.

There's one thing a few people aren't saying when comparing ring and g-sheild...your defense. If you defense sucks, then g-shield is just a full dark blocker with no attack.
If you defense sucks, then ring IS the better chocie since it's a g-shield that can attack, pretty much.

Anyways...
if you have trained defense...g-shield is the best for you
if your defense stat sucks...RotL is your best friend for a dark blocker

Yes, people on the BDC that are whining for downgraded don't own a ring. It's obvious if they owned one, they wouldn't whine so much. Many of them are being hard headed on it.
Plus, many know weapons are the best resellers for prizes from either wars or puzzles. Well, petpets too, but that's only happened once.
Puzzles are just like wars...massive clicking and prizes for top of the group.
A few of the top pets didn't bother to try this puzzle, but I doubt that hinders them in anyway.

Actually, I'm disappointed that there wasn't a better prize for the very very top. In all the other plots and wars that I've been in, the top 10 or so got something above what most people did. In this one, even though I was the second-highest scorer in all of neopia, I barely got anything better than the average person who completed--25k more points, not even enough for one extra book.

And of course, I'm not biased at all. Nuh-uh, no way. :P

Nabile pwns you...

Just curious but does the qasalan side bar and maraquan sidebar give any perks e.g more random events?

I'm pretty sure they don't. There was talk of perks when the sidebars were first introduced, but I don't remember ever hearing of any - and I didnt' get more when I used the Maraquan one for months :)

Gone, forever.

As far as I know, Birthday is the only one with added effects (+ REs)

Do you think that we would get points added? If so I think I will wait before choosing my prizes - I would be able to afford better things then. Hmmm... I definitely want a ROTL though, so it would be great if I could afford a book once I'd got that (I have 179,300 so not quite enough for a book).

I'm afraid they're kind of admitting that they didn't keep track of our whereabouts during the furniture moving or that they've lost those records, so I don't think we'll still get points for this, which is a true shame...
But I still hold on to my points too though, who knows? :) I've already bought the RotL, cause that's something I can definitely use, but the points I have left now will stay there until I know for sure that we won't get any extra points or something to compensate either the battling part, the furniture moving part or the fact that I DID read the correct library scroll, while they say I didn't.

Dunno. I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong again, but people have been saying for literally YEARS that the NQII Evil weapons are going to be downgraded any day now, and it hasn't happened yet.

Which isn't to say that it never will, or that RotL won't be downgraded, but it does suggest that TNT may be more willing to mess with the economy of the Battledome than people think. I mean, prior to NQII a 10-icon weapon for around a million NP was simply unheard of.

Given that RotL is now essentially retired -- after eveyone redeems their plot points no new ones will be made -- they'll have a smaller effect than the NQII weapons did.

I just wish they'd decide to mess with the ecomony by introducing more healers, dang it.

They added the number of points to the userlookup :( I would have preffered just the trophy...

Is the Foreman Cudgel worth getting? I saw the stats, but question is if its worth wasting the points on it?

If you're looking for resale value, then go for the key rings. The Cudgel is worth around 25k np (cost of 20k) and the key rings are going for 3500-4500 (cost 1k), so you'd get a better return today on the key rings and I cant say about the future value of the Cudgel (there are better weapons though for much cheaper).
