lol there's no way u can deny that advertisment works.. there're loads of statistics to prove it (why else would companies spend 3 mil for each 30 second slot of commercial time) and the sending money thing was pretty erm.. *remembers to be nice* anyway i think the TIME magazine article was completly correct think how many of u guys flocked to mcdonalds to buy their little toys? would u have gone otherwise?

Yes I got a toy from McDonalds. But I did not buy the Happy Meal, which is what they were trying to get me to do. I want the plushie, not the meal. Therefore I have not fallen for the ads.

Now I feel like giving money, but, fortunately I won't! I'm poor anyways, I have none to give away! XD

Subliminal messages work, at least on third graders. My friend did that fir a science fair experiment. He went into the classroom, turned on that "I'm Blue" song by Eiffel 65, handed out blue napkins, blue cups, wore blue, and then asked the kids what soda they wanted from, the blue bottle, the red bottle, or the yellow bottle (they were all the same soda). I think somewhere around 60% chose the blue soda bottle. Weird. :o

Just a bit of info about James Vicary...

From this page at Snopes:
Quote:
...

Or so goes the legend that has retained its potency for more than forty years. So potent a legend, in fact, that the Federal Communications Commission banned "subliminal advertising" from radio and television airwaves in 1974, despite that fact that no studies have ever shown it to be effective, and even though its alleged efficacy was based on a fraud.

You see, Vicary lied about the results of his experiment. When he was challenged to repeat the test by the president of the Psychological Corporation, Dr. Henry Link, Vicary's duplication of his original experiment produced no significant increase in popcorn or Coca-Cola sales. Eventually Vicary confessed that he had falsified the data from his first experiments, and some critics have since expressed doubts that he actually conducted his infamous Ft. Lee experiment at all.

As usual, the media (and thereby the public) paid attention only to the sensational original story, and the scant coverage given to Vicary's later confession was ignored or quickly forgotten.
