I'm the same. I'm 14 and alot of people think I'm 17 because of the way I dress and look. Or how I act too. Well, it does have its positive sides ;)

I'm twelve and pretty tall for my age so I don't have this problem often. I don't like being tall, though, it's not very glamorous.

Ooh I get this kinda stuff a lot. Both on the older and younger side. Mostly younger though.

Story 1: When I was 11, my dad told me to lie and say I was 11 to get in cheaper at some tourist attraction. (Yes both numbers are supposed to be 11.)

Story 2: I was traveling through Boston about a month ago and a cop thought I was 13. I'm really 19.

My age can be a real enigma to some people. I don't wear makeup and don't follow the trends in regard to dressing. My face and my mannerisms are really youthful (there'e a reason for the hyper in hyperflutterby). But I'm also 5'10" and tend to be more verbose.

Oh and Sakura, be proud of your height. It is very glamourous, maybe not so much at 12, but 16 and up height is very much positive attribute. If your mom is anything like my mom, she tells you not to slouch. I always did, partly from my heavy backpack and partly from being "modest" about my height. I know now that she is right and I'm trying to break that habit. You will grow to be a very beautiful tall woman, and you are so much more beautiful when you show your beauty by standing tall and proud.

I'm finally back for the summer, although hopefully I'll spend a little more time away from this screen.

I've always had to deal with the "looking like I'm younger" problem. I'm 20 years old (21 in October), and I'm only 4 foot 11. When I was about 16, I got a childrens menu at a place that said you had to be 10 or under to eat from it! I'm surfing PPT during my lunch break at the moment (I work at a property management company during the summer), and a woman from the insurance company upstairs came down here to heat up her lunch in the microwave next to my desk. She asked me what my major was in college, and after telling her it's Political Science and discussing it a bit, she said, "You must be a bright little girl to study that!"...ugh.

I am 22 and they said I will still probably get carded when I go to bars until I am in my 40's! People think when I say I finished my junior year, they think of high school and not college when I state that. They do not even think I am old enough to be finishing that!

My parents used to do the same stunt with me at restaurants and parks. And whenever I answer the phone people generally think I'm older and try to sell me things. That's okay though- I love messing with telemarketers.

I have the same problem, it really annoys me now. Many adults say that I should be happy that I look younger, but I'm not. Every time someone asks me what my age is and I tell them 14, they get that weird surprised look on their face! I hate when someone does that! It's driving me crazy! Most people think that I'm like 12 or 11 or even 10 when I'm 14 already! I'm sure that I will be having problems with my age in the future, like not being able to go to bars without the id thingy and stuff, I'm really not looking foward to that. I wish I could look my age!

I have the same problem but it's on the phone and they think I'm older. People on the phone mistake me for my mom. Big diffrence 14 and 43. And once I was 10 and some one asked why I bought a child ticket. 'Because I'm 10.'. The person thought I was 16!

I have that with people on the phone, it's wired. I don't sound that old

I have that problem, too.

Whenever I answer the phone, people start talking to me about loads of business deals, so I wait for a second and then say, "Shall I get you my mother?" when they're finished. That's really annoying.

Strangely enough, whenever I'm out somewhere, people stare at me as if I'm a very young child and say "don't handle that, it's breakable" when I'm looking and touching an ornament to see whether it has any chips. Well, duh! I'm not stupid, you know.

When I was in the juniors someone came up to me and asked whether I was in year three. As I live in Europe, that's the regime, and year three is six to seven year olds. And I was eleven.

It doesn't help that I'm short and look all squished when I hunch up. >_<

Still, I'd still say take it as a compliment. It's a lot harder when you're dealing with it, I know, but eh. You'll get used to it. I did. And I probably will be glad of it when I'm older.

I'm twelve, and I've been told I look sixteen or seventeen. I should take this as a compliment, but I don't. I have to pay more money than I should at the movie theatres because noone believes I'm only twelve.

I don't know what age I look! It's really confusing! I'm actually 16 right...

I went for a meal and "Under 12's eat free".......I ate for free...... :( :?

Then a few weeks later, I was at a pub with some of my older friends and this woman in the loos asked me what it was like to get into bars and clubs. I was by myself so it wasn't because all my mates are older than me! She wouldn't believe me when I said I wasn't 18!!

I'm all confuzzled!!!!!

Ooooh...you can be younger or older than you actually are... :?

I know, it's rather odd. I suppose it depends on the amount of make-up i wear.

It was really funny the other day when I went to this U18 club. They wouldn't let me in because they thought I was too old! All my mates were gob smacked! lol it was brill! All I did was pop next door to the over 18's club lol, best night ever!

That's ridiculous. At my mom's rehersal dinner, the waitress asked if she wanted a coke. But, are your parents home? That's both hilarious and disturbing at the same time.
