Hope some people find the tips in these guides useful. I particularly liked Lora's but have a looksee and give a quick rating.

1) Dubloon Disaster: Mines Go Boom by Lora
2) Inuyasha's Dubloon Disaster Guide by Inuyasha
3) Dubloon Disaster Guide by purple10105

Aditional guides I've added up today

1) 10,000 Neopoints From Simple and Quick Games by Psytard

Hold onto your seats people... the SL is back.

A correction in purple10105's guide, 800 for the avatar.

:) Good job to all who made them.

I'm a fan of the spawn 2, lure them to splode each other, lather, rinse, repeat. One thing I'd like to add for those not or no longer going for the
avatar: 167 is the magic number for 1000NP.

to add to Psytard's list, there are actually two brother bear games. The second one is exactly the same, but called brother bear SG.

I agree with bettywales, using this strategy i get at least 80 points each time

I know you're all probably tired of hearing this, but patience is the key to this game

So true about patience, pizzarth. Once you get the "knack" of luring
them into each other, your worst enemy by far is your own impatience.
That ends my game much more often than unlucky mine spawnings.

Same here. Is the only reason I don't have the avvie yet. I think next time I make a run for the avatar I'll throw in lots of breaks instead of trying to hurry and get 800:P

I thought that the maximum amount of mines on screen was 11, not 9. o_O

Dunno. A former housemate had a Dubloon Disaster trophy and I got my avatar using his stratgey, which was the same as Inuyasha's second strategy: keep the mines bunched up in the center of the board and herd them as necessary.

It's a lot faster than killing them two at a time and there's a lot less risk of being killed by respawming mines. Once you've got the hang of it, you don't generally die unless (until) you get careless or unless your mines blow up by accident (which they will occasionally) and you're killed by the respawn.

Or you're killed by a whirlpool, of course. On my first avatar attempt I was killed by a whirlpool when I had something like 780 points... the whirlpool only shows up once per game, so if you're going to make an avatar attempt I advice using the cheat (which I don't recall of the top of my head... is it scalawag?) to call it up first thing, to get it over with.

But then, I'm impatient. :-)
