I know you all know that each species as certain resistences and bonuses in the BD but I'm wonder how you would rank each species as a battle pet. Is there any one species which is best? I'm just starting to train my pet so I'm not battle experienced and I'm wonder what my pet should ultimately become. Suggestions?
----------------------------------------------
Ok here is what I got from the battlepedia. Any species not listed doesn't have any resistance or weakness.

Blumaroo - 10% air resistance
Bruce - 20% water resistance
Buzz - 20% air resistance
Chomby - 20% physical, 10% fire resistances
Cybunny - 20% earth resistance
Draik - 10% earth, 10% fire resistances
Elephante - 20% physical resistance
Eyrie - 20% air resistance
Grarrl - 20% physical resistance
Grundo - 30% dark resistance
Ixi - 30% earth resistance
Jubjub - 20% dark, 30% air resistances, (20% fire weakness)
Kau - 10% each air, earth, fire, light, physical, water resistances
Korbat - 30% dark resistance, (30% light weakness)
Nimmo - 20% air resistance
Peophin - 20% water, 10% earth resistance, (15% fire weakness)
Poogle - 10% earth, 10% fire resistances
Pteri - 40% air resistance
Scorchio - 10% earth, 30% fire, 10% air resistances
Shoyru - 20% fire resistance
Skeith - 10% earth, 10% physical, 10% fire resistances
Tonu - 15% physical resistance
Tuskaninny - 20% water resistance
Usul - 20% dark resistance, (10% fire, 10% water weakness)

But anyway I'd go with Lupe, Kacheek, Elephante or Lenny!

Hey Pat, where are you and general nonsense going? I guess to the festivities of sophisticos!

The "best" ones are the ones with good healers: Elephante (elephante unguent), Kacheek (kacheek life potion) and Gelert (gelert healing remedy). However, Lenny is also awesome because for the price of a H4000 Helmet (a 100% freezer), you can get a Lenny-specific healer AND a freezer (bag of lenny healing seeds and entangling lenny lasso). Lupes are also decent, as they have a cheap (though fragile) freezer (ancient lupe wand).

Lupes also have the iron lup sword, which is a great weapon. elephante have the stunray, which does good damage and freezes. the kacheek pebble lobber does good damge, and allows kacheek to be a great species.

Peophins do not have great weakness/resists or weapons. But if you like the color and are not a real avid battler, id say go ahead.

But yeah, it really depends on where you are in your battling. If you are an early level pet do one that can get good iconage from weapons. Midlevel pets should bee kacheeks(for healing) or Lennys(for freezing) high level pets should look only at weakness and resists, as long as they can afford both an h4k and jade SS.

Right now my battle pet is an eyrie, I do like darigan eyries so I might just stick with that species... I'm still undecided.

The ancient eyrie power staff is a decent weapon according to the battlepedia .. lol I'm such a newbie at this, what should I pair the staff with?

Too bad krawks have no good species weapons or armor and have no resistances. However, a battle krawk is just awesome, so I couldnt making my krawk the fighter. Maybe when I have money to spare I'll think about training my kacheek...

Before I got my NQII weapons I used two Ancient Eyrie Power Wands together. Probably not the best of all combos but since I only do 1-player it was good enough...

I like my Gelert because of the healing remedy. You just can't beat a 50% heal. (Well, actually, you can, but not on my budget.)

I have a really silly, newbie-ish question relating to this discussion.

It's pretty clear from the list posted earlier that different pets have different "advantages," but I was wondering if different colors could add resistance and/or weakness to your pet? I.e., is a Faerie pet going to be more easily weakened by "dark" icons than a Darigan pet?

Species have an effect, but colors have no effect.
