I think they should just have a password protected transferring system.

:roflol: Good call. I think it is more honorable to wait. It shows what kind of people are really out there. If you are serious about playing, you are more willing to wait or make the pet you want yourself.

When someone can link to the quote on the neopets help page, I'll believe it. For now it's some stupid rumor that is causing mass hysteria. I can't believe there is no one smart enough to actually CHECK for the rule and then to not be suspicious when it is not there....

Abandon pet page on Neopets wrote:
WARNING!!! Pets that are above level 2, are limited-edition species, or that have been painted with certain rare or expensive paintbrushes, CANNOT be adopted by any account younger than four months. So be careful when abandoning a pet, if you're planning on trying to re-adopt it!

My guess is is that they're trying to cut down on the new accounts that somehow manage to grab pets that are being transfered. Not the best idea, in my opinion. o_O

Are you in my guild???? That's the same message as a person in my guild said.

Dur, I'm sorry, but did you read the first post?

It shows up in bright red text when you go to abandon a pet. Whether or not it's been implemented yet I can't say for sure, but you act as if we're making this up out of the blue.

Your warning is on this page: http://www.neopets.com/disown.phtml

I'd check for it yourself before calling other people "not smart".

Yes, of course I read the first post. Nowhere does it LINK to the section of neopets that has this warning or even say where the warning can be found, nor did any of the boards on neopets that I read (which is what I was refering to). Moot point now that I have been told where this warning is, and thank you to the person that did so.

Hey, no big deal. But it does say where it's from in the quote on the first page.

Eh...I have sort of mixed feelings about it.

As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing wrong with the Pound being the risky place it is. It lets younger users potentially get really lucky and have the pet of their dreams even though they are still learning about the site.

I guess my view of this is influenced by the fact that, on my old account, I had a lot of fun labbing pets to rare (well, fairly rare, I suppose) and "donating" them, so to speak, to newbies in general by putting them in the Pound.

I wouldn't have wanted an older, more experienced, more "responsible" and "mature" user to get those pets. I was pleased that they mostly went to newbie accounts - and yeah, most of those accounts didn't go anywhere, yeah, they probably didn't take care of the pet that well or train it or improve it, and yeah, a lot of the time the users left Neopets.com anyway...but so what? Pets are pixels. Their value lies in the way they entertain others, and so I don't think it was a waste of good pets. In fact, I think it's way, way too hard now to get a "good" pet - takes months, maybe years for some people, and a lot of time spent on Neo.

I don't know...this new rule, plus the trend toward adoption agencies with lengthy rules and applications, just seems to cement a ridiculous sense of elitism in the game, in my opinion.

:P Well, there's my two cents on the matter. No offense meant to anyone.

I just can't feel sorry for the >4 monthers who can no longer get good pets from the pound. Nothing makes you feel worse than losing your beloved pet in a transfer. And it's not like they're saying newbies can't have nice pets. They're still welcome to save up for rare paint brushes just like everyone else.

Personally, I think this is the best solution TNT could have implemented to stop the auto-adopting epidemic. And those of us who frequently transfer our pets don't have to worry about newbie poundsitters anymore either.

Bravo, TNT. <3

It is a bit biase against newer players but it is actually a good method. What if a 2wks account have a lvl 37 pet? Not very nice maybe... i dunno

I think it's a good idea, but it would be better if they'd just allow transfers. I don't understand how putting your pet in the pound isn't 'abandoning' them, but giving your pet to your friend through a neofriend only isn't. I'd want to make sure that one of my pets went to a good home, rather than pound them and not know who they went to. Anyway, I think it's a great idea. :)
