I complained to TNT and got this reply:
Quote:
"Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention. We are doing our best to fix it and we hope to have the matter resolved shortly. We can not compensate for losses that may have been caused by this issue, but we appreciate you letting us know about the problem!"
Wooow an automated reply and i don't even get payed for reporting the bug.
What i wonder is how is the existence of a ghost account related to people missing items in their SDB or an item being bought but not appearing. Is the database broken? Why is it half-up then. What if this database was functioning on some major bank and someone pulled some dollars from the bank, it got substracted from the account, but the money wasn't coming (say coming out of the wall). Would it have been "oops sorry, can happen, live with it, but thanks for reporting!". Surely not.
I suppose TNT has a broken system wrt doing a rollback. If someone complains about sth being bought but not appearing they can easily check in their database log to see wether that person is lying or speaking truth. Someone who frequently lies you can just warn or freeze or whatever. Those who don't complain shouldn't get their stuff back, because investigating all these accounts is too much work. Those who do complain and speak the truth took the time to complain and detail their compliant so the other party / participant can do a bit more than just... an automated reply.
For me this was quite a loss. I'm quite new, had 166K, worked hard for that and had only about 100K afterwards. And i thought Utopia was buggy and full w/cheaters... this game is one major bug which needs a fix lol. It is that this game is kinda diverse and that i want sth different else i'd have quit right now and opened a Utopia account... sorry had to rant.
I still wonder how / what exactly got cracked on the website. I suppose someone has direct access to the database and create an entry with bogus data. Thats where i put my dubloons on. However, how that exactly is related to missing items when a page is accessed or missing item after a transaction occured (from shop) is beyond me for now.
