Here's some more pointers: If you want to have some defensive items, buy a Leaf Shield and "Downsize!" (I especially recommend the last one). To attack, you can buy Obsidian Dagger and combine that with either the Scarab Ring or your Scarab Stone Slingshot, the combination of those two will already do quite some damage. Also, if you're willing to spend a little bit more than 500K, you should definitely go for a Honey Potion! You can only use this once a battle, but it does a LOT of damage...

As for freezing weapons, there's not much choice if you don't want to spend too much. There's no 100% freezer that doesn't breat that costs less than a couple of millions... So your choices are either the Scroll of Freezing, which has a 100% chance of freezing, but it can break after a couple of uses. You've got the black or rainbow frost cannon, who both have about 20% chance of freezing and they do some damage every time you use them, but they break after freezing. And then there's the Snowglobe Staff, which has a slightly better chance of freezing, but it can break at any time, so it might even break without freezing.

Thanks for the help!

The best Pteri weapon is the Pteri Egg Amulet, but it's not really that strong... it attacks a little and defends a little, but as a pteri, it's better to use non-species weapons...
And my guess is that this is not really a "war", but just a way of earning some extra points through fighting...

And Meresged: you're welcome ;)

Snowglobe Staff and the Frost Cannons don't break permanently. They break for the battle alone. Scroll of Freezing breaks permanently, on the other hand.

With 500k, get a Halo of Devilpus, a Scarab Ring or two, an Illusen's Earth Potion, a Snowglobe Staff, and perhaps a Red Scorchstone. If you are training defense, pick up a leaf shield too.

OK since everyone is giving advice, I would like to know how to even begin. Hangman has been helping me but now that I have some weapons, I need to know how to use them lol

My only ability is smoke screen level 10 and I have no idea what that does. This is what I have equipped

Mystery Fruit Bowl
Leaf Shield
Lost Desert Dagger
Scarab Stone Slingshot
Red Scorchstone
Downsize!
Scarab Ring

I am also afraid if I battle now and his HP increases, what if it really hasn't started yet. I don't want to have reached my fighting limit before I get credit for it.

Cobrall Dagger

Anyone try using their Cobrall Dagger that was a McDonald's Daily Giveaway a few days ago? It is a desert weapon and a TCG Card in this plot, so I wondered if it would be useful at all? Just curious if anyone did.

I'm afraid I'm no help with the strategy part, except to say that you may want to get a feezing item (not sure what the fruit bowl does) and use the strategy of attempting to freeze on first round and withdrawing if it doesn't work. Hangman seems to be our expert and I'm sure he will help you out when he's on.

On the HP increase, I defeated them once, just for the participation points and am waiting to fight any more just in case there is some sort of announcement later. TNT might see the comic, the fortune teller's statement and the announcement at the battledome as sufficient though. I do not expect a recruitment center, since we are all fighting on the same side. So, I durno... o_O

I dont see any points building up from us winning these battles... maybe they are just something to keep us occupied but arent included in the points or sumtin.....

All i know is i want to get lots of points to get a good prize!

For people who are struggling with some of these battles you should get these 4 abilities - drain life(steals hp from opponent), burrow(defends nearly all), sink(defends nearly all), regeneration(heals 33% of full HP)

these can be very helpfull :)

Wed Oct 19, 2005 8:53 pm

My drain life seems to disappear after each time using it for the duration of the battle. What's that about?

Wed Oct 19, 2005 8:55 pm

I know there are SEVERAL of us who are newbies at battling (ME included) and want to get our hands dirty this time around, so please be patient with us hehe  my bff's other bff (my good friend) who was my bd coach last war is in college and can't advise me this time, so I need your guys' help and I'm too scared to use the BD board. on the boards. Sooo, here's what I have:

- 2 scarab rings
- Leaf shield
- Sticky Snowflake
- Illusens Earth Potion
- Downsize!
- Tortured Snowball
- Red Scorchstone

My pet's stats are:

Lvl : 18
Str : 177
Def : 56
Mov : 123
Hp : 297 / 297

Any advice? I'm hoping it'll get me relatively far..I might try to get burrow as an ability.

Drain life was downgraded to once per battle and it takes 40% power. >_> I find sinka nd Burrow more usefult hen drain life nowadays. The downgrade was pretty harsh.

Worse thing with drain life now is the fact 1-player oppoents can use it multiple times and it only cost 10% power.

I suck at giving advice, since my BD skills are outdated now.

Battledome

I've gotten so much help with the plot from you clever folks, I should share some of my meager battledome knowledge...

1) Train to the nearest boost level. You attack/defend more damage per icon when your strength/defence reaches 35 (1.5/icon), 55 (2/icon), 85 (2.5/icon), 125 (3/icon), etc. Training on Krawk island is a bit less expensive than on Mystery Island, up to level 40.

2) Use bottled faeries to obtain sink, burrow, drain life, and restore. more about faerie abilities in a moment.

3) Do you train defence? If you do, dual duty weapons and shields are good- look at leaf shield, patched magic hat, scarab ring, tooth of terask, etc. If you do not train defence, there are blockers like downsize! that do not depend on defence score to defend. Also, greater heaing scroll and bronze scorchstone are worth a look.

4) Neoquest II - I hear the groans out there! The game takes quite a while to complete, and patience is a virtue, but the prizes are really quite good weapons, at least for evil and insane difficulty... the top two insane prizes are worth 4 million NP !! Type IDNQ into your browser for a really good guide to the game. Also, look at neopets.com/ntimes/index.phtml?section=65712&week=185 for a very helpful guide.

5) My favorite resource for BD is idb.finalhit.org Those folks really know battledome !! There is a list of faerie abilities and the required level to obtain them.

Still confused? I will try to answer questions if you neomail me (labrat167) Good luck everybody!

That's true, sorry for the false information, I kinda misunderstood it when I looked it up, the only freezing item I've ever used is the H4000 Helmet...

scribe_05 wrote:I dont see any points building up from us winning these battles... maybe they are just something to keep us occupied but arent included in the points or sumtin.....

I hope they are giving us points for this... It's really possible that they are you know, cause we've never seen any points so far, not with the sand moving, furniture placing, completing the tablet, ... So I suppose you'll get your total (possible with an overview of where you've earned all your points) when everything is over.

As for fighting strategies, he's a quick "guide" on how to beat the Spirit at least once:

In your first move, you can do two things: try to freeze him (withdraw if you aren't succesful at freezing) and use something like the Scarab Ring to attack and select either your strongest attack, drain life, burrow or sink, depending on which one of those you've got and whether you've got many hitpoints yourself or not (if you're a bit weaker, then you should defend, otherwise attacking can help you to beat him in two rounds).
In the second round, just give it the hardest punch you can, using things like Scarab Stone Slingshot, Scarab Ring, Obsidian Dagger, ... combined with your strongest attack (probably fierce attack). If this doesn't finish him, then just begin defending (leaf shield or downsize) and using your defensive abilities, combined with an attacking weapon until he's down.
The other strategy is one you can do when you've got plenty of hitpoints. It's just throwing all you've got at him from the first second and only start defending when your hitpoints get low. With the weapons listed all over this thread, you might be able to beat him this way!
