Story ID# 401502 (9/22/05 re: Neopets) has an error in it. It states that
"There are no banner or pop-up ads". This is incorrect. A non-paying
account on Neopets gets banner ads at the top and bottom of each page. The
majority being outside company ads. We have seen ads from E-bay to getting
your horoscope, from Jamster to the Best Western hotel. Only if you pay
$7.99 a month do you not get banner ads.
Interesting. I didn't expect a reply from them. I doubt they'll put a correction in the paper or anything, but I didn't expect a reply.

It is good to see a positive article amoung all the others that seem to be so negative. They were wrong about the banner adds of course. And well, not all of neopet's users are teens or tweens, a good percentage of people are adults, actually.
It is very scary for me to think of neopets making lots of movies and stuff. I see the younger users increasing because of this, which would probably be good for the company. But they will lose older players I think, because we don't really want a lot of movies and cartoons and stuff.
Our preference is to build on our success and let it grow around our audience," said Stephanie Yost Cameron, executive vice president for business and legal affairs for NeoPets Inc., in a recent phone interview from Neopets' Glendale, Calif., headquarters.
If they really believed this, then I think it would be best not to make a bunch of silly cartoons and stuff, because they are bound to lose a good percentage of their adult population when all the sappy silliness starts happening.
If they really want to make movies, why not got straight to dvd type movies? That way, anyone can sneak the movie and watch it without anyone knowing it.
