I've now read all four scrolls in my first library: the chick, cup, ankh and wave symbols. Nothing on my tablet has changed, and I got the "read" message for each. I've also read one scroll in each of my other libraries. The saf symbol (which is the one that appears on my faerie statue) gave me the "understands" message, and the leaf thing gave me the "read" message. I should have the other six scrolls read in three days, so we'll see if anything happens.
It seems odd that nothing we do in the temple seems to be filling in tablet pieces, though -- you'd think that reading a scroll, or all the scrolls in a library, would do something, just to let us know if we're on the right track. Maybe we should be looking elsewhere for the tablet pieces.
Just so people can physically see the differences ... I made screen shots of "understands" vs. "reads" ... if these have been posted before ... I am sorry. But I thought they would be useful to look at ...
First: UNDERSTANDS
Sencond: READS
I agree with others and I think read vs. understand must be a big clue about something. About what, though, I have not been convinced of anything.
Are people *sure* that you don't just get the understands messages if you clicked the same scroll twice? I did get the understands message for the symbol that was on my faerie statue ... but I only noticed it after reading the scroll for a second time (and it is at that point that I took the screenshot).
I am going to be reading a different scroll again for the second time early tomorrow morning ... so I will be able to tell you what it does/says for sure.
FURTHERMORE ... I've been trying to backward analyze the plot. Put myself in the minds of TNT. Take into account what we know they have done so far with the plot ... and see if we can possibly assume something from that.
Things that we know:
1) Everyone has different riddles.
2) Everyone has different temple maps.
3) Everyone has different faerie statues.
4) Everyone has different mysterious tablets.
This means:
1) Neopets is trying *very* hard to make the solution to the plot "different" for everyone. They don't want people just posting some link of the Neoboards that allows everyone to solve the plot.
2) Everyone will have a different solution in the end. (same steps for everyone ... just different enough so that someone can't post a "
Other problems Neopets *might* have addressed ... because of problems in other plots:
1) They don't want the "rich people" to be able to solve the plot ... and the "poor people" to have no chance. Even the playing field.
2) They don't want everyone to finish the plot at exactly the same time ... this is unfair for all the timezones.
Possible solutions to the above problems ... that TNT may have thought of. (again ... I am just brainstorming)
1) Nothing so far (and I really don't think the LC scroll will be necessary) required people to *buy* objects. Of course, this might change as people start finding the real scrolls ... but who knows. There are only 3 of those out there ... so it is hard to say.
2) Make something that requires people to have long periods of time between events to wait .... so they can't just do everything with a few clicks. So, my theory is: The 12 hour scroll read/understanding clock is there for a REASON. It is so people can't just quickly read (or understand ... who knows) all 12 scrolls in a matter of minutes. It will spread out how people can finish the plot.
So (if you read all this ... thanks!) ... I think the scroll timer is the process TNT is using to spread out how long it will take to finish/solve the plot ... preventing people from just clicking on a few URL's and winning. I really think this would be a clever solution that TNT could have thought of.
So ... this is just my latest thinking on the plot ... I could be completely wrong ... but I wanted to share my ideas with everyone here.
