(( Dranzer, I don’t mind if Ristalia knows Meria in a shopkeeper/customer relationship. However as I would like to keep the plot moving and my character moving (particularly, I’m hoping to get Ristalia out of her shop and relatively soon) I would ask that unless you have a really important piece of your personal plot to take care of, that you would have Meria stay with Janine, Sir Maddox (the mermaid), and Lerany for the time being and see where that leads you. If you have further questions/concerns or need to explain why this wouldn’t work due to plot issues, please PM me! :D good work everyone, this is awesome!))

Ristalia smiled at the teenaged boy’s response, he seemed happy and proud of his family’s business, and with what Ristalia had heard about his family’s Inn, he had every right to be. She had only heard good things.

She hurried into the back of the shop and carefully selected two sheafs of the requested paper and returned, setting the paper on her counter with a soft thud. She adeptly and neatly wrapped the paper in thick, brown butcher paper and tied the parcel with a piece of twine. “Ten silver pennies, please,” she said, pushing the parcel toward the edge of the counter and toward its purchaser.

((ooch currency! I didn’t really think about that at all, so for the sake of some consistency, let’s say currency is in gold and silver. For the sake of our sanity, let’s say silver is considerably less valuable than gold. So, silver is like american change (comes in pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters) and 100 silver pennies = 1 gold dollar. Gold comes in quarters and dollars. And that’s just the basics. If the need for more detailed currency explanations should arise, whoever needs the currency explained/used may add to this and be as creative as they wish. Of course, your characters are free to use other items as money (ex. precious stones), this is just the recognized Coralie currency, which shops and other businesses in the main town would generally demand and accept exclusively.))

[continuing with my RP post]

While she waited for the boy to pay, she pulled a small, light brown handbag out from under the chair that was behind the counter. Her purse was already inside this bag, however now she added to it the young man’s journal (which he had presumably left as an example). If she was leaving her house, she couldn’t imagine leaving something so precious behind. She also removed a cloak of the same tone of brown as her handbag from a hook on the wall and began fastening the plain silver clasp at the neck. Mentally, she went over her apartment and shop in her mind, checking with herself to make sure everything was secure and in order.

(Just saying, OOOOOH! I posted the 10000th post on the Roleplay forum! Me happy!)

The conversation had dipped to a rather depressing mood. It'd spread to her if she stayed and it'd be rude to leave without a definitive reason. As good a liar as she was, her conscience wouldn't allow it at the time. And still, she needed to get those seeds. Perhaps vague is the way to go... but then he might feel even more depressed by the fact that I wanted to go in the first place. "I'm... a bit busy." Aiye, you opened your stupid mouth already? "Maybe, if I see you later, I can help you." She hoped he wouldn't know the true reason she left, obviously, not for seeds. She didn't know what else to do though, she wasn't a subject changer. Any subject she stumbled upon seemed to be still very depressing.

The child sat on the floor by the door, producing a strip of paper and short quill. Uncapping an inkwell, drawn from his pouch, the boy proceeded to quickly scribble across the papoer, elaborte whorls and flowery loops a testament to his exquisite penmanship. Folding the leaflet he slipped it beneath a stack of papers on the nearest counter top.

"As is written, may it be..." he whispered, his voice resonating slightly as he pushed power through his small working. The sheaf under which the slip was hidden, shimmered ever so slightly, as the magic travelled through it, and slipped into the other pages, parchments and stacks that sat on shelves and hung on walls.

The charm sifted through the fibers, endowing them with greater quality and brightening their colors. The child made a mental note to attempt a better charm when he had the time, but for the moment the small blessing was all he had.

Terran quickly counted out the silver pennies, and set them onto the counter next to the sheafs of paper, nodding in thanks before he took what he had bought.

He watched as the Elf got her purse and set the book in it - and his curiousity over came him. He tilted his head slightly, a puzzled look coming over his face, before asking, "You are going somewhere, miss?"

"Thank you, sir," Ristalia said, tucking the pennies into a safe behind the counter. Its exact location was obscured from view and no one would have known that that was quite what she was doing. She slid out from behind the counter and walked towards the door as she spoke, answering the teenaged boy's question.

"I'm taking this young fellow to your Inn," she said, motioning to the child, who was waiting patiently. "Now that I think of it, you could escort him there yourself, couldn't you? I wasn't sure of the best route to get there, as I haven't actually been to your Inn in years, and it is quite dark out by now." Ristalia wondered why she hadn't thought of this earlier. It gave her plenty of time to finish the young man's journal and get a good night of sleep.

((yay for real keyboards, Twiz! no worries, your post twas fine.))

Lerany gave a somewhat half smile to the girl she didn't notice before. Then she was suprised to see the mermaid raise a trolley looking thing from the water and got in. She then started heading down the road. Having nothing else to do, Lerany picked up her staff and followed.

(Sorry for the shortness but I'm not feeling well right now!)

[Soooo sorry for not posting yesterday! x.x I barely had any time online ...]

Caress was somewhat amused when she heard the slight tone of envy in Shade's voice. There was really nothing to be jealous of. What was it to be "irregular"? Exciting as it sounded at first, her telepathy grew to become a rather dull ability to her. She wanted to be regular, with normal magic and wings, like the other fairies had. Her brother may not mind doing without wings, but Caress desired them beyond anything else in the world. Right now, she could float a bit, sure, if she jumped, but ... she couldn't fly. What wouldn't she give to be able to soar across the skies? Caress loved gazing at the sky and the stars, and she had always wished terribly that she could just fly up to them.

She looked at Shade as he asked what the animals were saying. She gave the tiniest of smiles and closed her eyes, while she lowered her mind's barriers. Immediately, a flood of thoughts and voices entered her mind, loud and ringing as they streamed and crashed in.

Oh my, oh my! My poor little foal ...

HISRAWR! Step back, fiend, this be my territory!

M - Mama! Mama! Where are you? Mama!

YOU! Hey, you, repulsive fairy, are you listening? Hey, I'm talking to you!

Call yourself my sister, neh! Neh, you stole my acorns, neh!

Caress's eyes shot open as she slammed her barriers shut and the voices stopped immediately. She had been sure one of those voices had been speaking to her, but she couldn't really tell what kind of animal it was or where it was amidst all the other thoughts.

"CAAAAAAAAW! CAAAAAAAW! CAAAAAAAAAAW!"

YOU! FAIRY! Are you deaf?!

Caress looked up. A crow was swooping in the air high above them, calling to her irritably. She recognized it as the one who she had spoken to to swoop around her brother.

I'm sorry. What is it?

Bad news, fairy, and be glad I took the time to come and find you to tell you of it! the crow snapped sharply.

Bad news? A spark of worry shot through her. Tell me quick!

Back at your brick nest. I was just about to swoop down to fly around him, but some human leapt out from nowhere and attacked him!

"What?!" she cried outloud, horrified. "I'm sorry, Shade, I have to go!"

And with that, she turned and ran, back through the forest and down the path, back towards her home, terrified.

{ sorry for not posting yesterday as well. I've told Lilac that I wasn't feeling quite so well yesterday, I'm fine today, though! And jade, that was such a nice post! }

Shade glanced at Caress's face as she closed her eyes. Her should-lengthed blonde hair was wavering gently in the light zephyr. Her gift seemed to come easily to her, and it didn't seem that it was costing her any effort to communicate with the animals telepathically (and if it did, then she hid it very well).

Suddenly, she cried out loud, eyes open wide. "I'm sorry, Shade, I have to go!" she yelled quickly, and ran back through the forest.

"What's wrong?" he called after her, but she didn't seem to hear him. He was utterly shocked the Caress had acted so suddenly. He wondered if he should go after her, and ask her what was wrong, but it was getting late, and he had to get home himself. He would stop by the next afternoon, just before his class with Raynault began.

He started running the opposite way from Caress. He suddenly remembered that if the sun set before he got home, it would be unlikely that he actually would be able to find a way out of the forest. Quickly, he ran, long legs cycling softly.

{ blah-y short post. I will post better tomorrow, and add a lot more plot as well! }

[Really? xD Hehe, thanks. I thought it was a bit on the crappy side when I posted it yesterday =P]

Caress ran through the streets, heart pounding, andrenaline streaming through her system. She had never felt so scared in her life. Tears came to her eyes and blurred her vision. As she neared the cottage, she prayed that her brother would be okay. She leapt nimbly over the front gate and tore up the path. The front door was wide open.

She came to a halt at the doorway, panting, heart still racing madly, but what she saw made her insides suddenly freeze.

Blood on the walls. Blood on the floor. And lying right before her, in a pool of red, lay Tobias. There was a gash on the left side of his face, a long, deep slash on his right leg. But the worst was a dagger with a glittering silver hilt, half-buried just above her brother's stomach. His clothes were drenched in crimson, especially the wound from under the dagger, where it was turning a darker shade of red even as she watched. His eyes were closed, his face as pale as a sheet.

Caress stared, speechless, her mind suddenly blank. The information seemed too horrifying for her brain to process properly. This ... wasn't real. It wasn't real. Was it?

She felt weak. Her knees gave way and she fell down next to the body. She gave a soft whimper, and a tear rolled down her cheek. This seemed to bring on more tears, and then more, but she left then unshed.

Footsteps sounded, and Caress saw a pair of black boots standing before Tobias's immobile form. She looked up, and gasped, her eyes widening in shock.

The man looked like a middle-aged version of Tobias. Tall, thin, blue-eyed, handsome, with pale skin and pale blonde hair. He was dressed in a light blue shirt, with slightly baggy royal-red pants. He was staring down at her with narrowed, calculating eyes. And then, in one swift motion, he swooped down and wrenched the dagger out from the lifeless figure. The blade was was covered in blood.

Caress knew that this was her brother's killer. She stared at him for a moment, and then cried, "Why?!"

[Bleh. Not a very good post, I know x.x School is sucking away my ability to write properly.]

"Oh! No, I wouldn't mind at all. In fact - I should be glad of the company. Of course..." He looked over at the boy, pausing slightly, and then addressed him. "If you don't want me to take you there... that would be fine as well."

His gaze stayed on the boy awhile - awaiting his answer - but after a few moments, his gaze slipped away and flitted over the shop. He was smiling softly, glad to be somewhere else other than the Inn - it was nice, but he spent all of his time there, and his sister didn't visit him as often as she used to.

The boy raised his head to observe the older male, appraising him with a single glance. Then, gathering his staff and satchel, he rose from the floor, his deep green cloak rising from the pool of cloth it had formed about him when he had sat.

"Your assistance will be greatly appreciated," he nodded, "We can leave whenever you are ready."

{ Aww... jade keeps me in suspense!! Omg, my last post was SOO bad. Anyways, I expect this to be much much better!! (though not as good as the ones I would have without school. I'm not even bothering to try to think of more complicated words!) }

Shade ran quickly, his jacket rustling as his arms brushed against his body. Breathing in the free air, he smiled. He loved running. He had always felt so free from everything--free from the troubles of the world--when he ran. Different coloured leaves passed him quickly, colours blurring together. Following the path of the forest, barely visible under the darkening sky (as it was covered with many leaves), he came to a stop as he exitted.

He was panting slightly, but he actually rather enjoyed this feeling. His lungs felt like he was breathing in so much clean, free air!! Near his home now, he could walk the rest of the way. It would only take perhaps 10 minutes or so.

As Shade walked, he looked towards the distance past many trees and buildings, towards the tall stone castle, where the royal family lived. He gazed there in wonder, trying to see the detail. A lot of planning must have been made to ensure the safety of the royal castle. He wondered how old it was. Not that he liked the royal family, though. They were just normal people, as he was. Why should they get to live in a castle, while everyone else lives in houses?

He looked away, eyes falling upon an Inn, situated fairly close to the small castle. He'd never noticed it before. Maybe I could go there someday! Shade thought, then remembered that he had promised himself to go see what had happened to Caress. He bit his lip; he hoped nothing major had happened. If something happened to her house while he was gone, it would be his fault, as he was the one who had suggested taking a walk in the first place. Sighing, he continued his route back home, finally stopping in a house with a red roof and a red door. He recalled how his parents had painted the door all red when they moved in when he was 6 years old. Just after Lumier died. He sighed. He didn't really feel like doing anything at the moment. Sitting down on the doorstep, he looked back towards the horizon, where the sun was (still) setting. He rather enjoyed looking at it, though--the red and orange strokes painted by the sun, the wonderful shapes and colours of the clouds. It was his favourite time of day.

Laying his head upon the side of the door, he sighed. He sometimes wished that his older brother hadn't died. He would always have had someone to talk to, someone to share all his thoughts and feelings with. He knew he could always talk to Raynault as well, but of course he was a lot more mature, and not always shared his points of views. He wondered if his brother would've looked like him.

Shade looked up. His mother was looking through the window. He almost jumped, not expecting her. His mother just chose this moment to look down towards him, noticing him at once. "Shade!! You're already home!! Why don't you come in, your dinner will be cold!!" Smiling, his mother hurriedly came down, not hearing Shade's response: "Mom! I want to look at the sunset!"

{ more plot to come soon! I think this post is long enough already. I'll do it tomorrow! }

"Have either of you ever heard a good sestina before?" Maddox inquired as she trundled along, water sloshing out of her glass box at every pothole. Without waiting for a response she continued, "It's a very complicated piece of poetry. I dare say only the master minstrels can pull one off on the spot." She giggled gleefully. "I've been working on one... been picking out my words... perhaps we shall hear it tonight, eh?"
