What did I do wrong?

Remember they are looking for how much *paint* they will need to use.

I did not have a simple formula to just "plug numbers into." I used excel for at least part of it.

That is a neat way to look at it. :)

I guess I didn't even have to use excel to figure it out the part I used it for. *grin*

Yay for random 4 digit number that is an even number. Chances of getting it right...I could calculate that but then it would require math, and the reason I didn't do this was because of that math.

Use a single column. Put 100 in the first box. Put 99 in the second box. Put 98 in the third box. Surround those 3 boxes ... then pull down as far as you want. It should auto fill them in.

Then do any math you want in a different place.

I want to do 99*99 though not just 99.

Ok, as long as we do NOT need to count the top of any of the blocks in rows 99 through 2.......... I am almost postive that I have the correct answer... ive taken EVERY-THING into consideration.

If somebody would like to PM me and compare, feel free.... but only if you allready entered and you are willing to show how you got YOUR answer.... i really amd 99% sure i have it correct.

I know you want 99 * 99 ... that's why I suggested doing the math in another column. I just showed you how to get the numbers 100 down to 1 in a column ... use a second column to calculate 99 * 99. :)

I finally figured it out! The picture helped...Thanks gemma58! :)

EDIT: Quick question....shouldn't the number be odd since you have to "Round up to the nearest liter."

Rounding up is what actually makes the number even. :)
