I think it'd be nice to be able to have customizable avatars, which could go a little something like this:

You could have a few basic backgrounds (and add more and more) and then basically have a text box that you could anything with, and write in your username or whatever you wanted. And you could do lots of stuff with the text, basically as if it was your font. And...I think it'd be fun. Never going to happen, but it'd be fun.

And if this is the wrong board for this stuff, please move it.

(They need to make a marbles game too)

I was wondering why they didn't just allow us to upload our own, but then you've gotta think... some people will abuse it, and make 'bad' icons.

IMO it's just asking for trouble, some people would definitely take advantage of being able to add text... and some report happy neoboarders would probably take something the wrong way (even if it wasn't bad) and might get someone frozen, because we all know how deeply tnt looks into reported posts already... >:/ I dunno, we have plenty of avvies to choose from anyway.

You could have a report an avatar thing. People post bad things on the boards all the time anyways, but they get rid of those boards rather quickly. It'd be basically be the same thing as posting anything else bad anywhere, which is inevitably going to happen.

And we do have a bunch of avatars, but it'd be nice to have one with your name on it, just for an ego boost

Perhaps that could be the reward for old players? 2/3 years maybe?

I really don't see this ever happening. It would be just too easy to abuse it, and the boards would load much slower.

*hisses* I would never allow that. Just because I haven't been around as long on this account (18 months) doesn't mean I am any less reputable than other people. I have a lovely account, that I have put much work into.

I dunno, I disagree with rewards for older players. I spend time on the site everyday and have spent a lot of time building it up from defeats I have faced (being frozen, then hacked on my current account), so feel my account is just as deserving from rewards as someone who has been playing for 5 years.

I don't think it would work though, it would suffer much abuse.

It could be a premium thing, maybe.

I could see it working out, possibly. It'd have a filter and such, plus having the report-an-avvie thing might work.

wiltedniteflower - They could have each image as a seperate layer, and have the text as a seperate layer too. Think Gaia, or a doll maker.

I'm sure TNT is already swamped with the reported posts and users they recieve. I'm not really sure that adding something else would be very helpful.

That's true. To add on to Koddo's idea though, I was thinking they could make it so you could only use certain choices for text.

For example, have a drop down box allowing you to only choose certain preselected text like the species' names (Kacheek, Lupe, etc.), a username, etc.

I'm thinking that's pretty hard to implement, but it's just a thought. =\

or they could just filter it like they do the neoboards.... use the same programming.

The Neoboards are filtered? Sometimes you just can't tell.

OR they could just set the text to your username and you cant change it. Only the color or the background or whatever.

I think customizable avatars would take away the whole idea of collecting the preset avatars. Think about it: People will brag their new just released avatar while they secretly made the avvy themselves. If neopets releases a new avatar people will try to make one just like it instead of really unlocking it.
No thanks, I'd rather use the current system of collecting avatars, it's way more fun

it would be cool but it should have an iddication that all could see that it is a customized avatar and not a collectable
