I say that, along with "sticky".

As do I, and other people around here. In the states.

I think this thread is missing something...

The dingo ate your baby!

There. My work here is done.

I thought babies were delivered by Dingoes, like Storks, except the Australian version.

I'd not heard that, but you're probably too young to remember what I'm referencing.

I'm not, and Paul is older than me.

Ah, nothing like a quote from a Seinfeld episode, eh?

OK, my turn here. My maternal grandparents were born in Holland, as were their brothers and sisters. When they got to be about 18, most of them fled Holland (due to WWI ravaging the country, I guess). My grandfather and grandmother came to the US. A few of the brothers of each went to Australia.

Those Aussie brothers came to visit our family a lot when they got older (like 60). In addition, I had the pleasure ( :o ) to work for a female divorce attorney who had moved from Australia to the US when she was 20 (argh!!!)

So, here is my take on Australians:

They are all wealthier than spit. Everyone has a built-in swimming pool in their backyard.

They drink like fish. Every night, these old geezers would sit around the table and drink my dad and uncles under the table. And, not ever wake up with a hangover.

They have devilish characters. Always smiling like they have a private joke playing through their heads.

They are always happy. Except when they get mad. Then they are fireballs straight from Hell.

They are extremely loyal to the US. I don't know why, but they are.

Oh, and I almost forgot. Waltzing Matilda and Kookaburra sits in an Old Gum Tree. When I was a kid, we were forced to sing these songs in grade school. That was my entire education on Australia until I got to college.

I'd hate to say this, but the general Australian opinion of America is pretty low now-a-days. Not so much the people, but more the government and their actions. Mostly because our troops are being dragged over into Iraq, and so many are against it. And a lot of Aussies aren't too happy with their government right now either. But I won't delve into this stuff too much, since it probably belongs in the debate board.

Oh and... that swimming pool thing... partly true :P I used to have a pool, but it was a pain to take care of, so my folks got rid of it :P

Oh, sorry. I should have clarified. The Australian government is extremely loyal to the US government--for whatever reason.

And, just so you know, there are more than a few people here in the States that aren't too happy that our troops are in Iraq. Not too happy that any country's troops are there. And, these same people (*raises hand*) aren't too happy with the US government, as well. Appears that the entire truth of the matter was not revealed prior to the war starting. But, I won't get started on this--but it would be a good debate board topic.

For some reason, I now cannot get Waltzing Matilda out of my head.

My parents did the same, we didn't get another pool when we moved house. My Dad had actually helped to build the original one. I'd probably say that in Australia it's necessary to have either a swimming pool or air-conditioning though (particularly if you're in a few of the warmer places) :)

What's that Skippy? Bruce and Sheila are lost in the middle of the outback, about to run out of food and water, and only you can lead us to them? They've not got long left so it'll be a thrilling race against the clock?

*Remembers that rolo advert*
