On Gaia, they have a board with threads that have been expecially memorable. The topics are locked, but you can still read it and they are preserved there forever. If you make one, if there is a topic that many people went to and it was very important, you could put it there, so that even if it died down, people can go back and remember.

That is actually a very interesting idea. The problem would be that everyone has a different opinion of what's memorable and why, unless the threads were voted in somehow or something.

Hmm I admit I do like this idea. Is it possible though?

I think there would be a hard time deciding what is "memorable". Would a thread about someone's father dying be memorable? Someone leaving PPT? A fierce and powerful debate over an issue? A "things we didn't know about you" thread? A particularly dramatic Werewolf game? Are Neopets/Anime/RP threads counted?

As Jas said, perhaps we can vote on it.

It would be memorable to PPT, not just a couple people here and there. And, yes, anime threads are .

Seriously, though, there are threads that are just great sometimes and you wish you could look back on them later but they've sunk away or been clipped.

I like this idea a lot. They have a similar board on the NTWF; perhaps someone could ask how they choose the topics to be included.

To save the trouble of having everyone vote, we might elect a panel of 10 or so PPTers who could nominate topics to be archived in the board. However, I rather like the idea of everyone having a say.

It doesn't have to be like that, it could be topics with helpful, but hidden, links in them. Or a collection of helpful petpages, or something.

On Gaia many of those threads that are memorable influenced the culture of the site. We never did have any that did that in a drastic way.

I'm not quite sure what we'd put into a memorable thread section of our own. Though the people here are very clever and witty, there aren't many topics that would fit in there.

EDIT: I just remembered a thread (or two) involving people using some site that lets you put your own dialogue to short, silly videos. There were whole stories about PPT in there, but I think they were on the old forum. Another thing which, I believe, bit the dust last year was a whole comic about the moderating team, which I believe ended in everyone drowning. But, that's the kind of stuff I think should go in there.

Actually, the only reason I was represented by a happy meal toy (a chicken nugget in a shako). I think it's what spwaned the comic, though I think I was the first to die.

Either way, I couldn't find it, and I searched both manually and with the little search engine-thing.

One of the topics I'd like to see in there is when Jim changed the name of NNV. I still have a screenie of that somewhere...
