I've currently read three of them, Monstrous Regiment (gotta love the ending), Going Postal and Night Watch (fantastic plot).

So far my favourite characters without a doubt has to be Vimes and Lord Vetinari and Carcer.

What do you think of the series and are there any in particular you would recommend others to read?

I have read quite a few of these books. The latest one I read was The Truth. My favorite character would have to be the luggage from the Rincewind books. I'm also partial to the librarian in Unseen University. You should read the first two books in the series which feature Rincewind: The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic.

I dont mind boasting ( again, as these topics seem to crop up every other month or so ), that Ive read ever published work Pratchett has ever written, and own a large portion of them :)

I personally find the first few books in the Discworld series to be lacking. One notices a definite shift in style as his books progress, and I far prefer his later works. My favourites would be the Guards series. Vimes is the man!

I LOVE DISCWORLD!!! *points to avatar and sig set* I'll go so far as to say I heart Discworld. Vimes is by far my most favorite character so any of the Watch books are must-reads. I can't choose which one of them I liked best.

I also really enjoyed Going Postal, the earlier Rincewind books, and some of the Lancre witches books. Monstrous Regiment was surprising in a great many ways  I just need A Hat Full of Sky and my collection of Discworld novels is complete.

I love the Lancre witches series. Nanny Ogg is great. My favourite book has to be "Carpe Jugulum".

I adore The Carpet People (revised version) which isn't strictly a Discworld book but it is bloody brilliant.

If only The Metropolitan Police force was like the The Watch... I'd actually consider joining.

Then I'll jump on the boasting bandwagon and say that I have every Discworld novel, the cartoons, and the PC game.

Rincewind's always been my favorite, but only because of his hat. Death is always on top of things as well, his capital letters has always brought me into laughter.

My favorite Discworld novel would probably be Reaper Man, and now I'll share with you a Discworld moment: I was on the subway, a few months ago (when I was first getting into it), and in one part of one of the novels (I forget) Death is talking to his superior, and not really getting an answer out of him; but then, all of a sudden, he replies with a 'YES' that takes up the entire page.

That one gets me every time.

I absolutely love the discworld books and have read every one of them, though not every thing Terry Pratchett have ever published

My favourites characters would have to be Death and Susan. I'm also quite fond of rincewind and his The Luggage

I seem to remember problems getting over the first twelve pages, and complete bliss after that. The guy is good :)

(On a side note, bits of the "The Science of Discworld" which were written by Prattchet were exceptional (not that the other bits weren't))

Will you stop with the honour stuff?

I am absolutely addicted to those books. I think I own over 20 of them. I'm running out of books to read. :(

I love the witches - Granny Weatherwax is amazing, though I'm not as much of a Nanny Ogg fan, except when she's speaking foreign languages in Witches Abroad.

Susan is probably my all-time favorite character. Vetinari is a close second.

Oooooh, I love those! I've read up to Maskerade, they always crack me up...
Death is a personal favourite of mine, but Vetinari and Vimes are brilliant too.
The witches ones are probably the best ones... Witches Abroad made me laugh so much :D
