Inrun, the cars would not hit the snakes. They would get the cute little cybunnies, the usuls scampering about and an occasional aisha. In all of my time driving around forests, I have not once seen a dead snake on the road. But lots of raccoons, squirrels, possums, and other critters. The snakes are too darned smart.

Madam Morningstar,

I live in a not so snake prone province. But I have seen a fair share of road killed snakes along with road killed other critters. They take tire tread rather well.

We ran over a snake once. We were coming back from our camping trip and we heard a big BUMP.

We stopped the car, looked, and saw this snake withering on the road.

Usually you don't see the snakes coz the birds carry them away and they're eaten faster than rabbits and squirrels and whatnot.

I've seen a couple of dead snakes on the road before. Now.. not as often as other poor animals like squirrels or dogs and such...

Considering that snakes are carniverous and do not breed as rapidly as other species, or that there numbers are as strong as other species (squirrels, mice, rabbits... etc etc) it's not really surprising that they wouldn't be hit as often.
However, I know that snakes love to sun themselves on blacktop (roads!) because they're nice and hot. Thats how we caught our one snake in Drumheller alberta (gartnersnake that looked like a rattler). *shrugs*

As for the wings on teh Hissi... the aztec (? I think it's Aztec) god Quetzacoatl (probably butchered that spelling) was a winged/feathered snake god. Probably some inspiration from that.

I don't like it. It's cartoonish and cutesy and I'll make sure that TGoD and Krabbz beat Kobrassi with a Pinata Stick daily.

And if a snake crosses in front of your car its supposed to mean that you'll make a lot of money (Unless you kill it)

Weewoo, congrats. That is something to keep pretty quiet about right now. I know 3 people who've gotten warnings just for posting that they are putting a pet in the pound, not to mention those I know of who've gotten warnings for "lending" a pet - avatar pets mainly.

In other Neonews, have we all read the new addition to the T&C under Miscellaneous?

Quote:
You agree not to design, disseminate or use any third party programs designed to change the game play on the site including, but without limitations, programs such as autobuyers, flash game cheats, autofreshers, and snipers. Any use, dissemination or design of such programs is a breach of these Terms you will be responsible for any resulting damages to Neopets. You agree that if you disseminate, design or assist in the design of a third party program that changes the game play on Neopets, you will pay NeoPets, Inc. liquidated damages in the sum of Fifty Thousand Dollars for each such program as liquidated damages. You agree that if you use such a program on the neopets.com website, you will pay NeoPets, Inc. liquidated damages in the sum of Five Hundred Dollars for each time you use a program.

Of course if you're not using anything like this (which I sincerely hope no one is) then you should have nothing to worry about. How this one can/will be enforced I don't know. But I sure missed this forum when that was added. The boards were busy ... until all the topics started getting deleted and warnings sent.

I think that rule is just a scare tactic. I doubt TNT would ever really go through with it =/

My dear Lady Inrun ( :P ), I have seen raccoons, possum, deer, cats, squirrels (lots of squirrels), dogs, birds, beavers, and rabbits squished to bits, but never, ever a snake. And we live on the edge of a big forested area next to a decent-sized river. Perhaps the snakes in my area are just too darned smart--or have disappeared due to the everpresent pesticides/pollutants/deforestation and/or kestrel hawks that live around here.

I do agree with you about the wings on the snake. Definitely some mythological stuff happening there.

1. I would love to see a little 10 year old kid's parents being sued heaps of money for their kid using a programme he found on the internet :roflol:

2. How exactly do they intend to find where people that use the programmes live ?? And if they did use IPs etc then what are they going to do with them ? I'm fairly sure it says in the ToS that any information gathered by Neopets.com about you will never be dispersed in any form (Including to a Jury/Judge)

The TOS seems to conflict with itself and the mod's views so often that I seriously am not scared this threat.

I don't use programs myself though, but TNT have been known to make errors. What if that really fast RSer is mistaken to be an autobuyer? That rule can't really be enforced.

My guess is that it is there to scare the crap out of someone who is thinking of using such a program.

Because honestly, unless it is a program that directly hacks into the entire website and takes Neopets down for a day or more, it isn't feasible. First off, Neopets would either have to file a civil lawsuit against the person or convince a police authority to arrest them on criminal charges. Then they would have to prove that the person actually used the program. Directly prove that Jimmy did it and not his brother or cousin or someone else who happened to use that same computer. And then they would have to prove that Neopets suffered monetary damages solely because the guilty party used the automated program. And, I honestly don't see where there would be monetary damages of any kind unless the program hacked into the entire website and brought it down for a day or more or messed up such a number of accounts that the sponsors decided to pull out.

And, the money they are asking for in monetary damages is peanuts compared to the amount of money it would cost them to file civil charges against someone.
