I reckon it's the Neopedia since the hint says "literature study guide".I checked every pics in Neopedia and I found a match there.

I believe the hint was to "Cliff Notes" because of the Neopedia's description of the location of Smuggler's Cove being at th ebottom of a cliff (but not the game cliffhanger) AND a hint at the neopedia. Hence my music distraction with notes.

Where is the backside of an inlet at the bottom of a cliff located?

This was a poke at that style of hint, which I forswear from giving from now on.

My hint: between a cup and a machine is obvious when you look at the map of Krawk Island. Also note that when the pirates are THERE, it is the same picture as the one in the Neopedia. Pretty cool. The hint that was edited out was an lyrics from an ol' song called "Smuggler's Blues" who's lyrics were too easily googled. Psha!

In my opinion to that hint.... I would have thought having it as the "Smuggler's Blues" hint to be a bit more clever than something that looks like something highly encrypted on so many levels. The point of this thread is to help out... not cause headaches in the process

I suppose I'm a bit notstaligic for the old days of these threads before everyone was so hyped out on keeping it such a secret.

I enjoy at least a bit of challenge. I think the Neopedia hint was a bit odd. Between a cup and a machine was quite easy, yet will take at least some searching. I think hints should stay neopets related (my personal opinion) I never get the song hints.

I agree. Good hints stay in the scope of Neopets rather than referencing to music or literature guides which not everyone may know of.

Not that I'm criticising the hints given, hinters are free to give whatever hints they like. I'm just saying what constitutes a good hint IMO.

Unfortunately for me I didn't get anything. I wasn't sure how to word my submission so I sent in the image url.

Most things are pretty easy to word:

If it's a neopedia article, put "[Article Name] Neopedia"

If it's a caption contest: "Caption Competition [number]"

If it's a header on a page: "[Page title] header"

Shopkeeper: "[Shop name] shopkeeper"

Etc.

Basically, if there's a bolded title on the page -- in this case it was "Smugglers Cove" -- put that and the type of page (neopedia, neogreeting, shop, caption contest, etc.) it is. It's always worked for me.

Well, it's no fun to be told your hints aren't any good, especially when you already know you're awful at giving hints. I'll go back to waiting until Stampsyne is online and make her do all the work.
