Please don't turn this into a flaming thread.
And I am not envious. I had the avatar they were talking about anyway. It just annoyed me greatly that they didn't work for it like the rest of us.

Okay. Ignoring the whole morality issue here, because it's irrelevant...
TNT says it's against the rules to play games on more than one account. Let's say a person logs into 10 friends' accounts to play a game and win them an avatar. If TNT notices that someone with the same IP address has logged into 10 accounts, they will assume that person owns all the accounts and is cheating in an attempt to earn more Neopoints. It's also a very dangerous thing to do if the people you're playing for do dailies, because if TNT notices that the same person has logged into 10 accounts and all those accounts visited the Tombola... all those accounts are moving to Iceland.
So, whether playing games for people is against the rules or not, it CAN get you frozen for (seemingly) breaking the multi-account rule.

It's against the rules just to LOG IN to someone else's account, ask for someone else's password, etc. As playing games requires this, it is DEFINITELY outlawed.
Don't do it, folks. Stay in your own account.

Avatar/Flash Game Scams:
Another scam involves you giving your password to a scammer in the hopes of either getting an avatar or a trophy for one of the games. No matter what they promise you, by giving someone else your password you will lose your account... either because they have stolen it or because it will get frozen (since you have cheated by having someone else play games for you). Lending and borrowing of items to get an avatar is strongly not recommended either. Chances are you won't get your item(s) back.
That's from the Wall of Shame. It's not what I was looking for actually. I know I read awhile back I believe in the News (why don't I keep these things?! argh) that it absolutely is against the rules to play a game for someone else to get an avatar. See the above that I put in bold.
So it's a no-brainer. It is considered, at the least, cheating. And it is against the rules.

And one question.. Will the person giving or getting the avatar get frozen, or both?
congrats on 400th post

Yeah tNt will probably ice both cos they were both to blame

both what? Why do people report this avatar thing to neopets? are they jealous or something? It's not like people got scammed out of things or they were harassed. Why do you people
report these thing? why do
you care?
People report these things because, yes, they may be jealous, or they would like to remain in an elite group of neopians who have a certain avatar. We care because humans are NOT perfect, and they DO suffer from envy. We like to THINK that we are doing something good for the general public, while actually hurting them emotionally. Now this is NOT to say anything about the people in this thread, but it is a useful thing to remember in general.
ccy, remeber this. It's a saying in New York City. Mind your own business unless it affects you. I'm not even saying that. Getting another person an avatar does not affect you. Especially a game avatar. I believe that you have gotten alot of people Grand Theft Ummagine Trophies.
OH!! IS THAT A PERSONAL ATTACK????
Anyway.......
That is simply proving the fact that some people are human. It does not affect me. Doing so is a sign of kindness, which is not against the TaC either. If the world had no kindness, we would either:
(1) Be dead.
(2) Not be born.
(3) Be tortured.
(4) Be blackmailed.
(5) Be lied to.
..and many more.
People will be people, and that will not change. The attitude of any given person will not likely change.
I'm not attacking you. I'm just saying that you shouldn't agree with freezing people for getting other people things, when you do it for other people.

The fact of the matter is, people have been frozen for it before and if you do it you risk your own account. You can't rely on the Chat rules or terms of service to tell you anything as it's so out of date it's not funny. I've sent numerous requests to the staff pleading them to updating the rules so that every single rule is displayed so that we know for sure what we can and can't do. However, I've yet to see a decent change to either page that states every rule so obviously Neo doesn't mind us breaking rules we didn't know existed

tdg, I completely agree - we DO desperately need a full and complete T&C, not any "unwritten" rules, or vague rules or rules hidden, like finding the

hidden on the Wall of Shame that almost no one reads.
But the bottom line is that it IS against the rules and shouldn't be done. People have been frozen for it, and if TNT gets wind of someone doing it, etiher on their own or by someone reporting it, that person will probably be frozen too.
And don't forget this - which is in the T&C:
5. If you cheat on Neopets games or use cheat programs, including non-Neopets software or programs, to play the games we will freeze your account. In addition, NeoPets may freeze any other account that has directly or indirectly benefited from the use of such programs.
So anyone involved with this playing games for others to get avatars or anything can and probably will be frozen.

I always just assumed that playing games for others in order to get them the avatar was against the rules. I remember that having others playing games for you was against the rules, and I just assumed that applied to having other get avatars for you.

I'm very surprised to see that warning. Why? Because I've heard/seen too many people who either bought or were given something that was either autobought or gotten from a scammed account instantly frozen. And those people normally do NOT get their accounts back. Which can be very unfair. Just because someone else cheated does not mean you were in on it or even knew about it.
I guess TNT is trying to be more fair about that "domino" (that's what I call it) rule. Heed their advice if you do regularly trade and/or send/give items to someone in particular.

I would love to see a FAQ page that was updated regularly--containing every single rule. And all of those hazy rules, too. But, my guess is that I will see pigs flying through the air before then.
By the way, EC is correct. The rules (though they are deeply hidden in an obscure location) say no playing games for others. I seem to recall that Urthdigger was frozen a few months ago when his mother played a certain game on his account while she was at work.
Not worth the risk. And, that girl on the chats was just asking for trouble boasting about it.

The only way you can get away with this 100% safe is if you import your friend to your house, place them on your computer and have them use your account from your IP to win the trophies/avatars/high scores.
This can get expensive, with todays plane ticket prices.

Yes, it is definitely against the rules. It is also morally wrong IMO.

Of course it is. What's the value of an avatar if you get it in an unfair way? Do you want to show off your gaming skills when you can't even play the game yourself? A game avatar should be a reward for the effort you make learning to play a game well. If you let someone else play for you the avatar means nothing.
It's the same as this: Would you be able to enjoy wearing new clothes when you stole them? Some people would, unfortunately...

I have to admit I was momentarily tempted by this. Well, not the plane tickets, obviously. :-) One of my housemates used to play Neopets quite a bit (still plays but a lot less now). He's much better at Dubloon Disaster than I am (has a trophy and everything) and I admit the thought did cross my mind that if he sat down on my computer and got the Dubloon Disaster avatar for me, no one would be the wiser.
Which of course meant I had to get good enough at Dubloon Disaster to get the av myself, just to prove I could. :-) Plus, it's sort of a cool avatar.
It actually took a lot less time than I expected to get the hang of it and get the av myself, especially having watched my housemate play on his account and seen the techniques he used.
 Seems to me getting someone to get avatars for you is like cheating at solitaire... it's pointless. The only payoff of avatars is the satisfaction of having them, and if you didn't do anything to get them, what's that worth?
