Well, by now I'm sure we're all aware of how incredible some of the April Fools pets were in terms of art.

Anyway, like with (the still magnificent) Kougra 2, I decided I couldn't just let them slip totally into obscurity, so I have decided to take it upon myself to provide a few recolours... to give us a generally idea of how these pets could have looked.

Now, I'm no major artist... so you'll just have to content yourself with the simplest of colour-fills. There'll be no Faerie, Island, Darigan or Maraquan pets... at least not until I learn a little something about art. HeHe.

So anyway, for the first of the pets, I chose the Wazziup... it wasn't my original first choice, incidentally, but the more I thought about it, the more I realised how "fun" this pet could be. And so I present the...


Wazziup

Wazziups are excitable creatures named after the wild sound that they generally bellow upon greeting. They hail from a small island of the coast of Mystery Island, known to many as Wazziup Island although it's true name is Isla Tablero.

Wazziups are very loud, in-your-face creatures who spend the majority of the time bounding around their island home on their short but powerful legs, hollering in their own pidgin language.


Colours:

Red, Yellow, Green, Blue


Brown, Orange, Pink, Purple


Shadow, White


Note: Colours updated so they appear less washed out.


Isla Tablero Petpets:

These petpet ideas sprang into my head the moment I started thinking about the Wazziup, hence the reason why it became the first pet for me to colour.

Anyway, here are a couple of petpets that share the island with the Wazziups:

• Nubee: An annoyingly cute wasp-like petpet that buzzes continuously in it's own inane language.
• Wallflower: A shy plant-like petpet that tries it's hardest to blend into the vines that grow on the cliffs of Isla Tablero.
• Soshelfly: A butterfly-like petpet that is commonly found in large frolicking groups.
• Lirkur: A sinister spider-like petpet that hides in dark cracks and watches the goings on of the other Isla Tablero creatures.

PS. If anyone wants to draw these petpets feel free. All I ask is that, if you post them in a separate thread, please let people know that they were my idea.

I'm still annoyed that TNT won't use some of the pets for real, some are really... weird, to say the least, but some are cute and would be good.

Yea, I'll try and do a new pet every week... a few recolours and give them a little story.

I've already decided that the next pet I'll be doing is the Lamameeah.

I really like the purple, the blue and the white ones. I love these little fellas, they have some crazy ears. If you recolour and give little stories to anymore, I'd definetley like to see.

This pet also caught my eye, i really like your green, blue, brown, and orange those colours look great. I think this one looks cooler than the meerca imo.(which i think is the one being compared too)

These are really cute, and I like the idea of how you are adding onto their colors. The shadow one looks a bit odd to me, though... I think its the shade of purple. xD It looks great, though.

Aw, these are cute. I like how you're taking these pets and giving them colors. You've done a nice job, I especially like the little story about the pet itself.

Okay, I realise it hasn't been a whole week yet. In fact, I don't think it's been quite a day since I posted the Wazziup, but I couldn't help myself. This one was so easy to do... so maybe from now on, I'll try and post 2 of the April Fools pets every weekend. We'll see.

Lamameeah

Lamameeahs are the great travellers of Neopia. Although they are originally from the slopes of Terror Mountain, they can be found anywhere in Neopia - from the cold dark of the Haunted Woods to the tropical heat of Mystery Island.

It is almost impossible to pin a Lamameeah down as they are always on the move -- Lamameeah, here I go again!


Colours:

Red, Yellow, Green, Blue



Brown, Checkered, Orange, Pink


Purple, Shadow, White


Note: Yea, I realise that Checkered is normally black (grey) and white, but personally, I think this looks a little more fun. HeHe.


Sorry guys, no petpet ideas this time.


Anywho... due to it's sudden popularity elsewhere on the site, the Vermee will be my next target. If anyone has any ideas where in Neopia this little critter should come from, drop me a line.




Yea, I wasn't overly impressed with the shade of purple either. Only problem was, the more I fiddled with it, the "pinker" it got. I'll go back and have another look at it, if I get a chance... probably when I do the Checkered Wazziup.

Also, in case anyone was wondering, I'm not exactly happy with the way the White Lamameeah turned out. But hey, lotsa positive posts about it could change my mind. HeHe. Only kidding

These are really cool, but for some reason I have a problem with this one.
I don't mind the pattern... but theres something in the colors that make it... not act right in my eyes. Almost like the blue and the grey are different that the tone makes them opposite.
But who knows, could just be my computer.
Very cool none the less.

I love the Shadow and Brown Lamameeah! It's so cute!

Perhaps we could give you ideas for Darigan/Maraquan/Island/etc styles for some of the pets, and you could try your hand at those too? They'd be so cute! (I can see the Lamameeah with a kwoot bandana and striped shirt for a Pirate )

Honestly, it's not the ideas I have trouble with. I have plenty of ideas (Maraquan Zafara, Desert Lenny, etc), but like I said, I'm not much in the way of an artist. Simple recolours I can do, but redraws... I honestly don't think so.

Yes, well... April Fools Pet of the Week is really starting to look like a complete misnomer since this is update will be the third pet I've posted this weekend.

Ah well... it keeps me occupied.

Anywho... introducing the


Vermee

The vermees are curious creatures who dwell within the Deserted Fairground deep inside the Haunted Woods. They are not, however, creatures of horror but are instead innocent lights within the Fairground's darkness.

Befitting their heritage as circus performers, they are master acrobats and pranksters. They enjoy making people laugh, and their high spirits are often enough to lift the oppressive weight of the Woods and Fairground.


Colours:

Red, Yellow, Green, Blue


Brown, Orange, Pink, Purple


Shadow, White



This one was actually sort of difficult. Most of the colours wouldn't work they I wanted them to, so in the end, I got them as close to what I wanted and left it at that (yea, I know, I'm extremely slack ). That being said, the only colour I'm not at happy with is Red (and I totally adore Shadow and White).
