I got the avatar the day it came out. I had 5 Moehogs in my party, and got the avatar when I started Mission 3-1.

I had given up on getting this avvy, I always die on the 5th round, I quit my 6th round because my skeith has failed me and was transformed, thus losing its teleporting weapon.

Too bad I wasnt online when it first came out, they said mission 3 was enough.

I think it is not random, its mission 7, that is how you get it. :(

that avatar just about drove me crazy!! it was really early on, might have been the 2nd day...i played up until mission 5....i didn't get the avatar, so i deleted my game and started again...this time i played all the way up to the start of mission 6 so i could get the runner-up trophey...but still no avatar....so i deleted my game again and started from scratch...this time i just kept playing....it wasn't until i completed mission 7 and moved on to mission 8 that i FIIIIIIIIINALLY got the avatar!!

so anyway...would have been nice to have gotten after mission 3 like all the avatar hints pages were saying.....buuuuut anyway, i think ya just gotta be prepared to click, click, click, click, click and keep your fingers crossed.

How is the game? Is it relatively easy? I haven't played it, but I don't want to start if it's going to take forever (my neoquest game is already starting to rot).

Aha. It's the most boring thing ever! Partially luck based too.
Seems as though my NQ is rotting too!

It would help if people would post game guides for this, game guides actually work. I got my plushie tycoon av with a game guide.

There are a couple of guides for IoM, but they don't seem to help me at all. I can't get past mission 5 or 6, and I don't have the av, either. 'Course, I didn't even know about the av until a few weeks later. I never check the new avs, and don't pay attention to the news unless it's important (no laughing ;) ).

after playing the game a few times...here's a few things i've noticed that seem to work....

first off, make sure you grab all the recommended weapons....check the weapon descriptions, and the pet descriptions to see which weapons and defensive items work best for them. for example, the amulet is absolutely essential for the skeith! do not miss getting this! it allows you to transport the skieth to any location except for the top 3 rows or a place occupied by an item. saves having to move him one spot at a time.

i'm a little bit rusty on what all the item names are and when they show up....but another essential is all the magic items for the grundo. once you get the scroll that allows you to heal other players it can easily change the outcome of the game.

i guess now a little strategy....what i find works best for me is to spend the first few turns moving my players up above where the first villages are. i start by moving my skieth at least 2 rows (if possible) up from the villages. (this is after getting the amulet) i also place him inbetween 2 invaders on a diagonal. this creates a good block and those invaders will not move down giving me time to move more players. i'll then take the other 4 moves to move the pets that can only move two...so for example move my techo 2 spaces upwards, and then move the scorchio up to spaces.

next turn i'll move the same 2 guys up another 2 spots then move perhaps my moehog up one space. once my grundo has the ability to heal, i no longer have him participate in the fights....i leave him safely behind and use him to keep the rest of the pets above 8 or 9 hps.

it's critical when moving the players up to place them in locations above the line of villages. i always keep the invaders are least one row above the villages. (ie, village, me, them)

umm...what other hints can i give.....oh, you don't always have to be directly infront of the villlage. if you place yourself on a diagonal to an invader, he will not move beside or past you. the only exception to this rule is if you are beside a village and he is above. this is the reason i always keep that extra line between the invaders and villages.

another little thing i found really made a difference in the higher levels was once you turn an invader to a good guy....move him out of reach of the other invaders....the invaders seem to pick on them the most...and you'll spend many more turns trying to heal them and keep them from changing back. i'll often use one of the turned invaders to grab the lost item.

oh, and never miss getting that lost item! the lost item will give each member of your team (including the turned invaders) an extra point in health and defence.

i think i've been rambling on long enough....i hope some of the above things can help you out. if you've got something more specific...feel free to neomail me....my neopets account is vexee as well.

good luck in the game, and keep on click, click, click, clickin!
:D
