You need a lot of slowing, hasting and damage potions. ALWAYS keep Terask slowed, or he'll have the occasional two-in-a-row combos (one of those against slightly weakened Velm, and you'll be sent packing to the nearest inn). Start with the potions, and if you run out of them, use Mipsy's slowing spell. Throw damage potions only when he's not shielded (same goes for slowing potions -- he has a much greater chance to resist them with his shield up).

Velm's Celestial Hammer is generally useless against Terask. If everyone is at full health, use Velm's normal attacks. Cast Group Heal as often as necessary (leaving a small "healable" margin will allow you to combat Mesmerization (Heal breaks it), but if Velm is mesmerized...)

(You copied Mipsy's skills under Talinia)

Rohane... well, that's simple. Unless he's under 50% health, just attack (the lack of haste on him is disturbing, but you're stuck with it).

Eh fixed it...sorry bout that.

Thanks for the help, will give it another try. About the haste thing...I asked here what to spend my points on and followed that, but it is noted for when I try evil mode.

EDIT: Woohoo I beat him, thanks HL. Now to tackle evil mode.

EDIT2: Can anyone recommend a comprehensive NQ2 Guide that I can follow from the begining? I want to do evil mode but I need a guide :) .

That helped me through Normal and now to the end of Evil. ;)

Don't get lazy!

Really the only difference is you might have to be slower and more cautious so you don't die. The enemies will be tougher, but the rewards will be better (ie more weapons are dropped by enemies).

The best advice I have is don't get lazy! I was near the end of chapter 2 on insane and having an easy time beating up minor enemies because I had been going really slow earlier. I was absentmindedly clicking through a battle when I decided to check on my party, make sure they didn't need healing, I scrolled down and was horrified to discover that the last move had been this minor enemy's finishing blow to Rohane, and that the rest of my party had been knocked out prior. It was game over for me after investing a ton of time and energy into it. I was so frustrated that I restarted on normal to restore confidence in myself. So don't let that happen to you, yes it make take more energy to pay attention, but if you drift for 5 minutes of idle clicking, you could end up dead.

That's good advice. That happened several times in Normal, so I was much more careful in evil and now in insane.

My problem with insane is that I seem to be goin waaaay to slowly and not making much progress. Right now I'm still in the Underground Cave before Zombom and Rohane is level 12 (98 hp). I can barely handle the Skeleton Knights (90 hp), and I need to use a healing potion every time I fight one of those guys. I'm also trying to walk 7 steps between each battle to heal up, but I always get more damage than that.

But I'm not getting many healing potions or gold from these battles (no enchanted weapons either. :( )

Is this normal and I just have to live with it and be very very very very very patient? o_O

I have a question about developing skills. For Rohane I have decided to develope the skills:

Critical Attacks
Damage Increase
Stunning Strikes
Innate Melee Haste

My question (or questions) is: Are these the right choices? Which skill do I start on? Do I build one up to 15 then go onto the next one or distribute points evenly amongst them?

Thanks for your help.

EDIT: I hate to be constantly bothering everyone and being a pain but i have run into another problem (its probably a newbie evil questions). I am in the Mysterious Tower (actually I had this problem in the latter parts of the Underground Cave) and I can beat all the monsters withotu too much trouble but they hit me for a lot of damage and I find I have to use a lot of my healing potions, which I try to conserve. As a result I die a lot becuase I am not healing at the rate that I am being hit. Any suggestions? I am level 10, training to 12.

I've followed IDNQ's character skill guide almost right down to a t, which suggests putting Rohane's skill points on the following things:
1 - 15: Damage Increase
16 - 30: Critical Attacks
31 - 45: Stunning Strikes/Innate Melee Haste
46 - 59: Innate Melee Haste/Stunning Strikes

It took a lot of boring training before I got Mipsy, but I had ten-eleven points in Damage Increase I think, and one or two on Critical Attacks. I no longer remember exactly what level I was at before I could survive all the way to Zombom, but it was way higher than I'd expected. I died so many times it wasn't even funny.

I'm all WEEEEEE today because I got a piece of lab map while fighting the first pant devil :D

Yes, I played most of the game like that. I was really frustrated at the begining of chapter 2. I had to wander between the adventurers camp and that first town at least 3-4 times before I was strong enough to deal with the enemies in the cave.

You will probably find yourself backtracking a great deal to level up and return to a place where you can rest and buy more healing potions.

You'll get enchanted weapons soon. Remember in normal and evil you don't see many of them until the end of the game? Well normal enemies should start to drop them by the end of this chapter.

You're on evil right? Yeah you should have a higher level right now. Just try to train where you are, don't be in a rush to get to Zombom, he'll creme you.

I was lurking on the neoboards the other day and actually saw something useful:

Well. I'm starting Insane and all. Does anyone have any tips or tricks that might help me out? Because I know that if you die you are sent back to the beginning of the game. So ... I really don't want that to happen and all, yanno.

That's odd, when I began Evil, I received enchanted weapons already in chapter 1. Maybe I just got lucky? o_O

Edited to add: Beat King Terask I :)

Yeah, I was kinda generalizing when I said that. You'll almost always recieve enchanted weapons from the bosses no matter what mode you're in. But you should definately notice a difference in how many weapons minor enemies drop at random between the three modes.

I think it is a good thing because a new weapon can break some of the monotony of constantly struggling to level up when you're on insane.

Yeah Im in Chapter One and some enemy (can;t remember which monster) dropped a sword with 5 damage and +1 for damage increase. Wasn't too useful, got 250 gp for it.

EDIT: Forgot to say, thanks hyperflutterby I beat the Sand Grundo at level 14 (I know technically I should have waited till level 15) and now I levelled to 16, about to start my way to Ramtor. So yeah thanks for your help.

EDIT: Woah, I just got a 'creased wand' from a dust merchant. 7 damage and +1 damage shields. I guess that 900gp I spend a new wand for Mipsy back at Town of Lakeside...

BEAT HIM!

And what a hard battle that was! First off, I forgot to read up on the recommended preparations for the battle, so I had 10 slowing potions, no more. They were all gone before a third of the battle was over. Talinia died already when Terask II had 5k hp left, and I tried to flee but was told I couldn't. So I kept in battling and chipped away at his hp little by little. In the very end Velm was down to 75 hp and got mezmerized, but Terask II only had 200 hp left so I went for it and won! Halo of Devilpuss be mine :D

*off to restart on insane*
