I received this neomail today. I have sent it via report to neopets, as well as explaining not only do I NOT Neomail, I also DONT use the neoboards, (to many get frozen that way) I mean for crying out loud I am 26 not 3 I dont even know this person I have now had to neomail restrict to NF's only is there anything else I can do, neo is known for icing for the oddest reasons but I havent even done nothing, I guess you might call me paranoid after how hard I have worked on all that I have as well as my guild.

Suggestions?

Just don't reply, that could make them worse. It could just be a simple mix up with names, but don't rise to the bait.

That is very weird. It may be a mistake. A few people have said that they've gotten neomails from people they don't know about things they never talked about. They think that somehow something's wrong with the neomail system and the wrong people are getting neomails intended for someone else.

I got just an odd one - someone neomailed me and asked if I had 120k. That's it, just did I have the np.

Maybe we should all make our neomail nf only for awhile?

You did do the right thing reporting this. Just to protect yourself.

I only sent the reply that I had reported this and I was making neomail friends only. that was before I thought I shoulodnt do nothing. I dont like being involved in this but then it wouldnt be hard for someone to see my lookup and 3 awesome pets and one lab rat and think Oh lets try to get this one frozen I've worked dang hard for all my avatard my items, my shop and weapons and I dont like someon e spreading punky fibs about me so I reported, I mean who knows with Neo these days!

I happen to know this person and she certainly wouldn't send a neomail like that without provocation. She's recently won a contest and has gotten a flood of neomails and and I'm almost positive that that response was meant for someone else.

I dont know hon but I also cant take any chances this is not the first time I've received sucha neomail as I say I am 26 going on 27 I wouldnt do that kinda thing but TnT ices for the ODDEST stuff so I dont risk my account no more I worked as hard as yer friend has

It's sad when you have to turn off accepting neomails from the general populace. I wouldn't risk getting frozen either.

Maybe she really does think you're spreading rumors about her. In her neomail, she said "it has come to my attention that you're telling people you are me and that Im selling my account... I have been told by a reliable source and this person doesn't even know me so had no reason to lie."

Do you have any enemies who would lie to her about you?

Either someone is messing with you both, or she wrote that neomail to someone else and accidentally sent it to you. From just looking at her account (she's an oldbie with good pets), I don't think she'd be the type to try to scam you or get you falsely frozen, especially if she doesn't know you personally. Has she responded to your neomail yet?

sadly no I had to block all non neofriend neomails and only my guildmates of the guild I lead are allowed NF status I have decent pets to we both like that miserable ixi *heh* but hey I dont do enemies I just play the game is all it is a game nothing to get worked up over

I'm in my twenties as well and so is she. She's not the type of person to make up stories just to upset someone. It's either a glitch or mixup, or she's been misinformed. I don't for one second believe that she would believe someone was stealing her identity without overwhelming evidence. I've sent her a pm on another forum, including a link to this thread, so she can clarify the situation.

Btw, I've had neofriends blocked for ages. I find the whole notion utterly pointless.

The same thing happened to me before! I got a Neomail accusing me of attempting to scam someone into giving up their password. I had never even heard of the person before, and don't post on the Neoboards, ect. Scared me pretty badly! I forwarded the Neomail to TNT with a paragraph explaining my side of the story, and the person was frozen. I later learned that the guy would accuse random people of trying to scam him, then demand Neopoints and rare items or he would report them

Huggles, please tell your friend to send an apology - it's frightening and infurirating to be accused of something that you didn't do!

I dont think an apology is called for as much as I think getting this cleared up is, cuz I sincerely wonder if it was a mistypped name on the neomail, or if someone is spewing junk who is jealous of our pets cuz I noticed we both have grey ixis and what not.. I dont ever neomail unless its to set up a multiplayer meeting for tournys or to my guild and I dont neoboard either but some people are jealous and petty of pets, petpets colours and everything else and will do anything to stir a burning melting pot and I think if this can be solved calmly I'd be thrilled

I did not misspell a name, I intended to send the mail to you, although looking at it now I could've perhaps worded it differently but I was ticked off (not to mention silmultaneously replying to some of the other hundreds of mails I'd gotten that day), after recieving 2 mails from two seperate people telling me you were parading around as me and trying to sell my account. Neither of these people were your typical chat speaking newbie, they were both intelligent sounding people who had no reason to lie.
The first mail I recieved I actually didn't act on because I didn't know the person and he had no proof, so I let it go.

But when I then received a second from a different user, it set alarm bells ringing. I mailed him back after mailing you to say that you'd said you hadn't been doing that, and he merely said that he hadn't intended to cause friction, he just thought I should know incase my account was in danger. He has supposedly reported you though obviously that could be talk.

Since winning the pet spotlight, I've had literally hundreds of mails and to stop my inbox being clogged and full, I go through and delete them all once I replied to them. So his mail is gone and I can't remember his username, though I do remember it had the word darigan in it.
Even if I could remember it, I wouldn't post it because as of now, I don't know who to believe, you or these two people I've never met.
It seems strange that you would go to the trouble to make a thread here on it if you are guilty, but similarly, it seems weird that two completely unrelated people I've never met would mail me about this out of the blue too and both talk of you.
Both only have their words to go on so I will not venture an opinion or loyalty to either side.

Suffice to say, however, that I don't think you should've reported me at ALL. I didn't report you, though at the time I was sorely tempted.
What you should have done, what I would have done, would have been to send a mail back saying 'ok, I don't know where you got your info from but I've never done that and I wouldn't ever either. Who told you this? What are their usernames? Where did they get this info from'.
However, you sent me an agressive mail saying I had to 'get my facts straight' and then BLOCKED me. I know I was angry too, but if you'd responded with a response similar to the above, I'd have gladly given you his username and we could've discussed the issue.
How on earth can either of us find out whats going on if you've blocked communication? Then to come here and discuss me behind my back, well, kinda crap isn't it? I didn't block you, I would've been willing to correspond with you some more. Theres several good friends I have on neopets now who actually started out arguing with me!
But reporting me? No, sorry, that was wrong. You didn't even BOTHER to mail me further to discuss the matter, you just blocked and reported. You speak of how much you love your pets and how much you worked for them, what, you think I didn't? You think I deserve to be frozen for merely trying to protect my account?
But anyway, yes, I think we should've conversed more. I much prefer to discuss problems than gloss over them.
You did not need to block mail, it's not as if I were harrassing you and sending you bulk mails. I sent you ONE mail, which you think was based on a misunderstanding, and I wouldn't have bothered sending you anymore if you'd told me not to, so blocking was really unecessary. My mail may have been firm, but yours was too, though I won't post it here since I respect your privacy........

Basically, to sum up, Im not apologising or anything because I still don't believe you didn't do it, thats not to say I believe you DID either, I really do not know, or care particularly. I just wish people would be prepared to mail back and forth a little more when misunderstandings come up rather than spew bile and block then report, then go and talk about the other person behind their back. Nothing is ever resolved that way. We could've sorted this out via neomail easily but......

You're both so overworked about this.

Obviously, the two people were both against Sylence, and probably angry at you too for some reason. You can't pretend that you're completely in the right either. You complain that Sylence responded harshly, when your mail was quite provoking inthe first place.

Pretend you recieved a mail like that, which completely stated that you were doing a mis-deed, not even asking if the fact was true. You mail was extremely provocating, and even some of the more twitchy people may have called it harrassment.

Before you go on PPT preaching about whats good and whats wrong, and showing others how to act, check your behaviour first. Your mail could have been a lot more polite and was probably the reason that Sylence got so overworked about it in the first place.

Please don't venture to presume how I'd behave.
If I'd have recieved a mail like the one I sent, I'd have obviously been ticked off, but I would've responded more calmly and asked for names, times, facts etc. in order to better evaluate what was happening. I wouldn't have just snapped and blocked then reported. Thats not how things get sorted out. Thats the behaviour of someone who doesn't WANT to sort things out and had already made up their mind. Like I said, I would have liked to discuss it further, but the option was taken away from me and I was reported just for trying to defend my account.
Like I said, I still don't believe she's innocent, though you all seem to. Again, I don't 100% believe she's guilty either, but DO remember, theres no evidence on anything here and Im not taking sides.
I know Im not completely in the right, but I think my actions are understandable.
Yes, my mail could've been more polite, as could hers (like I said, Im not posting it because I consider it an invasion of her privacy), but don't accuse me of preaching. I am not. Im simply stating things as I see them.
I've been on PPT as a lurker for a long time (used to be Ziggy but can't get into that account) so it's not like Im coming along into your little group and being preachy. I've been here for ages.
Obviously you're going to take her side, all of you, you know her and you don't know me. I accept that. Were we on the forum I frequent, reactions would be different. So really, it's kinda silly us discussing this here since you're going to be biased against me. I merely wanted to clarify that yes, I did mail this person and I did mean it. I still do not mean it any less because I still don't know the truth, but would have liked to have had the chance to discuss it with this person personally rather than being blocked and having to find out about this thread and deal with it here.

Oh, and thanks for the congrats
