Oh, EC, you can't be serious, can you? An ad to get passwords? Where the heck is the TNT employee who should be screening these ads BEFORE they hit the Neopets site? I say this with the fur standing up on the back of my neck because my husband just got hit with a bogus charge on his charge card--from some place we never heard of, Pluto Data, on a date when neither of us used his card. Seems it came from phishing and after reading an internet forum, many people were also hit around the same time. I am not saying it was from Neo, but it does appear that a person cannot be too careful with anything anymore.

If I get my account back, Morningstar, EC, Marinnai Kasaraki, and everyone else who helped me out, I will give you a little something.

Good luck getting it back, it seems like people are getting so desparate to scam people they use keyloggers and cookiegrabbers.

I am not sure how this happened to you, but I think scammers of today have nothing to do

. The fake login page was ok, cause it taught to watch out. But now it is just insane.

Ah, keep whatever you were going to give me, mate. I think you'd need it more than I myself would *hugs*
Just trying to help out is all; I've been there before, not fun at all.

I just got an E-mail back from the staff, and do you know what it said?
Hi there, dittomania!
We just wanted to send a quick email to let you know what has been going on with Neopets lately. Lots of new great games and features have been added over the last couple of months, and more are on the way!
This month sees the release of our Curse of Maraqua TCG set and storyline. Follow the adventures of Garin the Foolish as he attempts to re-discover the underwater city of Maraqua. There will be a grand battle for your Neopet to join in where they can choose to help Garin thwart evil pirates, or work for the dastardly Captain Scarblade.

Ditto to Mari's remarks.
I have never been there and hope to never be there, but have felt a bit of the pain, anguish and disbelief when my husband's account was scammed a while ago. It hurts like heck when someone hacks/scams your account. And, I really wish Neopets would up its security system to keep this from happening.

Was that e-mail the reply to your unthawing e-mail or just a normal e-mail. if that was from your thawing e-mail...that's just wrong.

<---not the best expression I was going for

The point is we're here to try to help YOU, not the other way around! If you want to do something for me, just be patient with me if I post something asking a question on BD, ok?
Morningstar -
I've cropped these down (so not great quality) - the first shows the page the ad was on (the LogIn!!!!! Page!), the second is a close=up of the actual ad.

I got that e-mail as well, I'm thinking it was a e-mail sent to every player on Neopets for advertising and not the response for your frozen account. Good luck unfreezing you account thought!

Hang in there bub. It can take a while to get your account unfrozen. The first time mine got frozen, it took about a month as I recall. If you haven't done so already, try sending them a hand-written letter. I believe that would show sincerity.
Fri Mar 11, 2005 6:27 am
I think it actually takes a smaller period of time to get an account unfrozen if it was "self-frozen" than it takes those that were frozen by TNT. I'm not sure about the exact amount though ...
Hope you get it back as soon as possible.

everconfused wrote:I had this awful thought - that Dittomania was a target of that group Hahni (something like that). They apparently have a site with a forum and they post there and on the neoboards when they get into an account. I saw in one case on the neoboard that whoever did get into an account did plan to self-freeze it. I don't know how these horrible people are doing this, but they need to be stopped.
A very good friend of mine had her account illegally accessed several months ago. When TNT faxed her husband the account activity (they have Premium, so I guess it *does* make a difference), it showed that someone had changed her email address a couple weeks before to "hahanowitsmine@hotmail.com". I think that the Hahni group must stand for
Haha
now
itsmine.

Does anyone know any staff that I can mail directly? If you don't feel comfortable posting it here, you can PM me instead. Thanks! I heard that people like Brian and Carmen help people out alot, but I don't know their specific e-mails.

Someone should send those password finder screenies to Adam, he should be able to sort it out
Fri Mar 11, 2005 10:50 am
awwww

just ads weight to the argument that you should never invest so much time and effort into something that is utimately in the control of someone else. I really hope you get your account back
