I've only had one popup, yesterday, and I suspected it was caused by the banner ad.

This morning, though, I had a most annoying ad that made a buzzing sound like an insect. It was very annoying. I did email a complaint and so far haven't seen/heard it again. I'd hate to have to turn off sound when visiting neo.

Arka, I don't turn my speakers on when I go to the site. Too distracting, especially in the games. I'm bad enough at games without hearing music or noises.

There does seem to be a trend toward these new ads that have sound. Not just on Neo, I know there's sounds in ads on another site I go to and lots of people are complaining there. The sounds/music is doing awful things to peoples' computers (making them lock up, etc.). So, hopefully this will be seen as a very bad idea.

I've given up browsing with sound. In a public place such as college it's not good to have sudden loud noises. I turn the sound off whenever I log on.

This is getting truely redicolous. Neopets was never supposed to have any adds to begin with. If my mind serves correctly, I read somewhere on the site that Neopets was free, and that as long as their were sponsors, there would never be any annoying banner adds, or popups, but, unfortunately, TNT didn't go through with that plan. Why? No clue. They say one thing and do the other. Then, when banners were first released, it wasn't that bad at all, it was just beginning. TNT did a nice job of controling the size and content of the banners, but then the big ones came, with no limit to size, there were double, triple, and even quardrople banners appearing ontop of each other. TNT suddenly lost control of the advertisers. Spyware was getting big and infecting peoples systems, like mine. Luckily for me I got Norton, which gets rid of all of them. This has gone way to far. Asking kids to squat the bug and get a free IPOD. What has this world come to these days? Am I alone in thinking that this has gone way to far? Seriously, TNT did a superb job with controling the content of the small buttons. But these new adds at the bottom are redicioulsly much. Giving 5 year old kids links to give away personal information and date? If I believe, that would be aganist some COPA kids thing..or something of that sort.

Exactly, I bet you didn't know that Disney owns neopets now? :p

If you don't mind me asking, where did you hear this?

I believe that was a joke. :) As I said on the WSJ topic, however, I think Disney would do a far better job. ;)
