Argh. I can't decide if this is a good deal.

I put up a white PB on the Trading Post to try and get either a Pink, a baby (unlikely) or a Faerie (even more so!) Someone has offered me 135 K for my paintbrush.

Should I take it? If so, how do I know they'll even give me the money?

Well it is the trading post and if you accept you will get thier money. The white paint brushes run from 130k-200k so I would try to get a better offer. But it's your choice.

It is kind of hard to get a pure NP offer, but that is a tad low.

They neomailed me about it, instead of making an actual offer, which made me iffy.

never ever ever trade outside of the trading post.

If they dont want to use the trading post DONT trade with them!

I believe it is just normal that someone neomails an offer before actually bidding on your lot. You could negotiate through neomail, and once you've reached an agreement ask them to bid the agreed amount on your lot.

I suppose you are new to the trading scene? Trade offers are frequently done through neomail first; this is a normal occurence. Therefore, unless he suddenly asks you to send him the PB first instead of him bidding on your lot, I believe there is nothing to worry about.

I'm rather perplexed why people can't use the advice sticky.
