A Question About The Pound

Sun Feb 20, 2005 12:01 am

I was browsing the Neoboards, and was reading a post where someone got a Baby Ruki from the pound. This started a debate about whether transferring is legal. Now, I used to be in TNO, and did transfers many times. The pound says:

Note: The pound should not be used to transfer Neopets to new owners,
selling Neopets to other people is a freezable offence.

But is it actually against the rules? Could TNT even make it against the rules? I mean, technically, you're just putting a pet in, and someone else is getting it....that's what the pound is for. When I was in TNO, the main thing was that we couldn't promise a pet would go to a certain person, and make sure that they're aware of the risk. And, if it was against the rules, why does TNT allow all those "lending boards" on the Avatar Chat?

Normally I'd write TNT and just ask them, but I can't find a place for just a general question anymore.

I used to be TNO too, and yes, I transferred a lot too.

I don't think transferring neopets, alone, should be against the rules. I don't see anything wrong with it, it's not cheating/hacking/scamming etc. The thing that should be against the rules, and is in your quote, is that people shouldn't give/transfer a neopet, and receive something in return, ex. selling a neopet for neopoints.

Of course TNT can make it against the rules, but whether it is against the rules or not, I don't know. I doubt it though...there are a lot of adoption guilds out there, and I'm sure TNT knows it. If it's against the rules, TNT would have deleted the guilds or something, right?

According to the FAQ Wiz,

How do I move a pet from one account to another?

The only way you can transfer a pet is by using the adoption center. This is all done at your own risk as if someone else happens to adopt the pet you are trying to transfer, it is rightfully their

So, yeah-I don't think it's illegal at all. I've transferred tonnes of times, ditto for almost everyone I know...

I have never successfully transferred a pet so I just don't even bother.

I've transferred pets succesfully, but I've also lost a few. You gamble on who gets the pet. Once, I lost an Island ixi in a transfer, and the person who got her was sweet enough to transfer her back to me. So I've gotten lucky, but... some people aren't that nice.

Wow, thanks! I'd never seen that before....I'll have to use that when people on the boards say it's illegal.

And yeah, I lost my spotted Gelert with 100-day old slorg, and the person who got him wouldn't reply to me. I ended up making another LOL.

Nope, not illegal. This is from support (I asked them about something totally different, but it still solves a different question :P)

However, the transferring of your pet is your responsibility. If you choose to move your pet from one account to another and someone else adopts it, that is the risk that goes along with moving a pet. We cannot be responsible for returning your pet, because someone else already paid for it and it would not be fair to take it away from them. You should write to the person who has your pet and explain your situation, but please be nice in your neomails!
