Hm. I hope nothing is wrong with it. I suppose it could be to do with the autobuyers.

This is actually quite a smart move.

Most autobuyers (and other bots) use one of two methods to log-in:

1) Read the code using an OCR scan thingy.
2) Show the code, let the user type it in.

Since the code is gone, it can do neither, and will force AB programmers to reprogram the tools, while rendering the majority useless

It's probably a quick, 20 second - compile time fix. Useless.

But its 20seconds of ab free rsing:)

I didn't get one when I logged into my fund account. Yay, I don't have to fight with that stupid thing! For a while.

I was in the neopets cheating world, I've learned to program and such and all. The programmers out there aren't stupid firstly. Secondly, these autobuyers do not run that way as I can tell you of 3 autobuyers that currantly work. They do have an error fuction so errors wont pop up, if anything is not found / identified, it just skips that part of the script. Thirdly, there are many autobuyers out there that do log you into neopets via IE cookies stored on your computer so that is not the fix. I do not believe they are just deleting this, I believe they are adding a flash ocr image, therefore being harder on programmers out there. And rahidz2003, you seem to know quite a bit about autobuying...

*resist urge to make a comment about autobuyers and their programmers*

Well, the shop still have the magic image thingy in them. This thread was about the absence of the login page security code, so I don't see why autobuying has anything to do with it.

Thank you Qanda. I was reading the posts and scratching my head wondering what ab'ers had to do with the login security code myself!

Any clues yet? Anything been mentioned anywhere by anyone why the security code for login just went *poof*?

I know, the code was only so effective, but it was an extra layer of protection. There were many nervous people on the boards earlier tonight, all trying to think of how to "lock down" their accounts - at least their bank and pets.

I noticed this too, first thing I thought was "is this a glitch?" but I really wasn't too worried. I didn't have a whole lot in the account I was logging-in to anyways. I detest the security code log-in but I suppose with the security it seems weird not to have it there.

I am really glad they did this. Much easier to log in. :)

Now if only they put the pass and username on same page. It's be much easier. :>

I'm guessing that autobuyers need to login and some were made that require a login image to work, no login image= less autobuyers.

At first I thought that was an insult, rather than the user's name. *blush*

Autobuyers are designed to be nothing if not user-friendly, so I don't doubt that there are several out there that will just skip anything that isn't a login routine.

That being said, if the modern autobuyer works on the java image overlay that neopets uses now as a shop security feature, why would using the same or a similar system inhibit the autobuyers from logging in? It would thwart the cheaters for maybe a day and a half, until some stereotypical programmer with a pizza and two liters of Mountain Dew puts a new login code together, and then we're back to square one.
