If you don't get a response from Today Tonight, I'll try. Maybe they'll be more responsive to an Aussie.

Failing that, we can then try A Current Affair (TT's rival), and the newspapers ;D

You guys still have A Current Affair? With that rotating triangle thing as their logo?

Cool. I used to love that show when it was on here in the states.

Oh, and naniwai?

It's 65 now ;)

Sad to say, Neopets seldom take petitions seriously. Many petitions have been filed over the many unsatisfactory issues in the past but all have gone unheeded.

I doubt TNT even takes time to read the signatures, all mail to the "suggestions and comments" bin is probably automatically redirected to the recycle bin.

Ok, that may be an exaggeration, but you get my meaning.

But I think it's definately worth a shot, especially if there's no response from Today Tonight. Or if TT respond saying go away, you can go to their competitors ;)

Reposting this to support any arguments against the ads:

http://info.neopets.com/presskit/articl ... 31804.html

Quote:
NeoPets EVP Rik Kinney pointed out in an exclusive interview with Jack Myers Report that "the Internet has failed in many ways to deliver on the promise of interactivity and engagement. Many forms of advertising are still 'push -- in your face.' At Neopets.com, members choose to visit, they have a good time, they are involved, they interact, and they receive messages advertisers want to deliver in a very engaging format. There is no traditional banner or button advertising. "

And I sent this link and quote as well as what I typed in the petion to TNT as an "idea" in their "contact us"

In my opinion, we should be able to make donations to them. :P Like with paypal or something. Many sites have those Paypal buttons. 9_9 Not sure if they'd get as much money than with the ads though........

I've heard a few that will take in a lot, but they generally get an item or two in return (like on Gaia Online you get donation items for every $2.50 USD you donate). I doubt it would mess with the economy, considering the TGC and merchandise items they already have.

Nyaa, I didn't see that link before. Signed it and sent it to a friend who plays on Neopets. Wish I had more...

Hey, it's worth a try at least. And it's even better if everyone comes up with a well written arguement/complaint. They'll listen better.

I'm not going to send it to the form. I have a couple friends (not very close, but I know them well enough that they'll listen) on staff who I bet can get me an email adress.

Someone signed as "Borovan". Wonder if it's Adam. Probably not, but we all know he hates the ads even more than we do.

Edit: Post 666. Cool. 8)

Nani, just checked your page, you have 80 signatures now! So it looks like you're doing a good job spreading the news.

I agree with you, I am sure that neither Adam or Donna or the rest of the staff are very happy about these ads. They are seeing their "baby" being used like this, after all. It makes me wonder, when it was said in an editorial that they had had a couple of horrible weeks .... was this what that was about? Fighting over not having any more ads and losing the battle? Somehow, I can truly picture Adam, et al. trying to stop more ads and wanting to try to keep the site as clean as possible. He's proven he cares, at least to me, when there were those pop-ups and that bug banner. Those were gotten rid of.

What was the ad you saw that was innappropriate?

I'm also making a petition. Its not about having the ad's removed, but for having what ad's are used carefully selected.

We are aiming for 150 sigs.

Yep, Current Affair is the one with the Triangle. *lol* I still remember them.

But as far as what I wrote to Today Tonight, I informed them that even though I'm not an Aussie, that I can hook them up with people in their area that share the same views if they wanted to interview a few.

I'd volunteer if I wasn't too fearful of what kind of treatment I'd get at school for playing Neopets :roflol: Such a shame that it's been generalised into this little-kiddie website. Oh well. Today Tonight are always looking for excuses to put something or other into a bad light, so they'll at least reply with a 'maybe'. But the fact that it's Neopets might put them off, after all the complaints they recieved from their last two articicles.

I thought the same thing, that perhaps after thier last two articles they'd be fearful of a third....

...but then again, even bad publicity is good publicity with folks like that. Public outrage and lots of hate mail means viewers were watching and ratings were up. ;)

Hey you know, I never thought of it that way. They might accept it. I mean, today they were talking about the evils of chicken (for about the millionth time in the last 3 years), and a bit of controversy might spark up ratings a fair bit :K

And if all else fails, A Current Affair is always a good choice. Ahhhh, poor over-sensitive Aussie parents. Having one myself, I can tell you how easy it is to twist them to your advantage  A lot of outraged Aussies is just what we need :D

I'm not exactly 'in the area' but I am an Australian...I live in Adelaide...and I'm 19 years old.
