Is there any proof or documentation from well-known sites, that can prove our point?

I, personally, can't give you a yay or nay. I had the ads on the top blocked, and the bottom ones, if I can help it, I don't click. The little buttons on the side... I forget completely about most of the time. So... sorry.

Although I'm pretty sure its a 'nay'. :battar:

Scoootttttt, now I have to repost my question! *pokes*

Anyway. I'm still hunting for screenshots, but any proof that these sites aren't exactly legit would always come in handy ;)

And can someone PLEASE kill the Classmates.com ads!? Like I said on the last spilt, I *know* where my classmates are!

Gone, forever.

Back again....and done with my letter to slap the screenies on...

Comments? Ideas? Suggestions?

Dear ________,

As a parent, I wanted to make you aware of some of the shady advertising being associated with your company on the website Neopets.com.

Your company currently advertises on Neopets.com, and I feel it is my duty as a parent to inform you of the problems associated with the website's new advertising and the shadow it is spreading across your company's image.

Recently, the company dropped it's brainchild "submersive" style advertising techniques on the site and branched out to large banner ads located at the top and at the bottom of the site. Many of these ads are NOT suitable for children and I doubt greatly that they pass the COPPA standards for what is mostly a child-oriented site. These ads at times contian adult-subject matter (as the ad I have enclosed for you below) as well as many spyware/malware installing sites which can be malicious, not the image we wish to represent family site.

That being said, I would like to bring it to the attention of your marketing department that your company, it's logo, and imagery is being tainted by questionable material, which no doubt was not there at the time you signed your contract with Neopets.com. Aside from the material within these said ads, the advertising space that you paid for has now become overshadowed with advertisements which you may have not been made aware of, and is in no doubt lessining any advertising value of what you paid for with sponsorship to the site.

You more than likely do not know about this, for in many of the sponsor areas the advertisements do not show at the bottom, and only site-related ads show on the top-banner...I think maybe this move was made in hopes that your company would not surf the site beyond the borders of your own content.

Families do not wish to see your products being placed on the same level as ads such as this, and your association with this site is now being looked at with scrutiny. I know you are a large company that values it's image and has always remained family-friendly, and I'm sure that your company will look into the matter before this gathers media attention and clarify that you only intend to market to children on a website that follows COPPA guidelines.

Please look into this matter.

Sincerely,

Valerie A. Lundberg

Anything for you, Scott dear. ;)

And who said I was complaining? My last real complaining post was on the first topic... how long ago was that? The others were merely joking around, or giving some info. :P

Hm, and I haven't really been paying attention to them.. I swear I see that Looney Toons ad everytime it comes up though. Does that mean I'm looney? o.o

I have windows! They make my room bright when the sun is up! I'm cereal! (And that is going to help alot in getting everyone to stop calling me Trix, I know. :P)

Ahhhh, excellent. I wonder what the big advertising honchos are going to say about this? I can tell Mickey Mouse probably won't be too happy, and Ronald McDonald will be representing the classical unhappy clown. Lovely.

And hey, if all else fails, we can just boycott neo for a couple of days. I can see it now....

Day of Action II: Judgement Day, Rise of the PPTers

Ahh, you must excuse me. I was just watching Terminator 2 and 3.

Great letter, the only main flaws were spelling mistakes. :P

Ouch, and with me on my way to being a future English Professor (and a former spelling bee champ) that hurts. :P

But I'm sure you're right...I wrote that newly awakened and after a mere 2 hours of sleep. I'll go back and proofread.

Oh yes, I also sent a lovely mail to the Today Tonight people...I wonder if we'll hear from them? 0:)

If you don't get a response from Today Tonight, I'll try. Maybe they'll be more responsive to an Aussie.

Failing that, we can then try A Current Affair (TT's rival), and the newspapers ;D

In my opinion, we should be able to make donations to them. :P Like with paypal or something. Many sites have those Paypal buttons. 9_9 Not sure if they'd get as much money than with the ads though........

What I really didn't like was that they said the ads wouldn't slow the site down, but they do, alot.
