If you use Host files you can get rid of the ads on IE. I put walkthrough here. No idea how it works, but it does. :)

Runedit: The domain is blocked for a reason, please don't bypass our filters.

You don't have to put the space in there. This isn't the neoboards ;)

Unfournately, they can change it. *sigh* I hate the ads.

I don't get this hosts file stuff - can anyone give me a walkthrough?

Sun Feb 13, 2005 6:08 pm

Hosts file? Ohhhh...my sister has it before she rebooted her computer.

Soo..I think it's like you save it in a certain place. Then, you open it with notepad, which should have some links there already, which are places to block (site not work or somethhing to comp). I think it's something like that....not sure.

The ads are EXTREMELY annoying.
I'm thinking this will be the future of neopets.. :D

I'm using mozilla firefox 0.9.2., and whenever I try and download adblock, or chrome fox, nothing comes up. Do I need a diff version of firefox, or is it somthing in my settings?

Most plugins now only work for 1.0, it's probably best if you upgrade.

According to that, they have to inform the users of a new privacy policy, which they have not done. They have given us updates in the news about ads, but no notice that says the privacy policy is changing.

:roflol: I wouldn't doubt it. I really wouldn't.

I'm dealing with the ads. Too lazy to try and figure out to rid of them. And honesly, I'm just ignoring them and trying not too look. But man. I would love to see a nice page without ads for once. It would be a beautiful thing...

Not quite, sadly.
NeoPets' users will be informed of any such change by NeoPets posting a new privacy policy on the neopets.com website.
They "notify" you by posting a new one, generally in the same place as the old one. Presumably, you're expected to check this every 5 seconds or so to see if it's different.

Okay, so that's a bit of an exaggeration, but they don't actually have to do a thing other than post something new.
