I went to both of them this year, but I didn't have much fun. Basically it was a big mob of 13 year olds bumping and grinding. x_x Nasty. Probably won't go anymore.

Over here I suppose we call them discotheques (or discos). They very rarely happen out of school hours, usually at lunchtimes and everyone sits on chairs at the edges of the hall, in groups, and just arses about while music plays and coloured lights flash. Sometimes getting the DJ to read 'amusing' messages over the mic.

Nah, I haven't had one yet, at the graduation ceremony on June 23rd, I will be though.

I always went to dances at my junior high but high school dances are lame. Only losers go.

Ha. Alright, sorry but people do think I'm a snob with a superiority complex. But seriously, I wouldn't go those dances because as Xil said, the dances aren't aimed at family friendly.

I was actually planning on going to a few but everyone kept telling me that they were very bad and no one should go. Rarely anyone goes. It's sad really.

I went to a couple of random dances in high school, usually when I had a boyfriend who wanted to go. I did enjoy my proms, though.

Probably not the best choice of words, but he has a point. Some of the dances these people do are rather...not for children. I don't go either(surprisingly enough, I've been invited to several). The music is crap and the people are overly revealing.

All in a catholic school..haha.

The dances in grade 7 and 8 were fun and i went to them all. I've never went to a high school one.

We just use it to mean snogging.
