when i say buildup i mean supply small countrys with heat for a year, kinda buildup.
besides offically youre only supposed to go to a doctor to get it cleaned out (or use those drop things)
and poking my ear usually makes it worse

If you're very careful you can clean it yourself, but if its that bad you should probably see a doctor.

It like Dawns ear infection has spread through the internet...you could even call it a.....'Computer Virus!

Anyway, have a doctor deal to it, they'll give you stuff that dissolves earwax (very very messy process).

That sounds really nasty hmm. Reminds me of the beggining of Shrek one where he uses his ear wax for candles.

 i love that film! ;)

Yeah go see a doc. I poked my ear when it was full of wax and sent it down more and made it all a big big mess. I still remember walking out of there at 23 with an 'Im a brave girl' sticker and some sweeties lol

It may lead to infections...
I hardly cleaned out my ears when I was younger and I think that lead to some problem with my ears.

Now i'm half deaf ....but I think that has to do with playing music on the highest volume.

Once you get them cleaned you should ask your doctor about this but, I hear that it's good to clean them out with peroxide instead of using q-tips since they only push the wax futher in and endanger your ears.

My high school teacher would place a few drops in his ear while in the shower then tilt his head to let it out. I've never had a build up like that, I don't clean with peroxide but I did once use that oil which drains your ears. Even if I don't need something I still panic and use it just to "prevent" anything worse lol, call me a hypocondriac.

I think some people just produce more wax than others so finding a method of cleaning your ears and maintaining them clean would be wise as it will prevent this from happening again. Good luck at the doctors if you decide to go, I'd say that's the best thing to do right now. You might be able to prevent a horrible ear infection.

I just remembered; cleaning your ears can be a bit safer if you use a bit of hydrogen peroxide. You just put a bit of peroxide in a cap and the pour a bit of that into your ear. Let the peroxide bubble for a bit, then tilt your head and dump it out. Then carefully rub the sides of your ear (just inside it) and you should get a large protion of the wax out. It helps, but its not always perfect.

Are q-tips cotton bud swabs or little metal things?

Poor guy, I hope you go to the doctor soon and get some stuff for your ear. I have ear infections every now and then and I usually stick some ear drops into my ear, cringe when I feel it come down my ear (just like swimming and getting it clogged up) and later let it be. Personally I don't know how much it helped. I hardly ever do that anymore, to be honest.

But after you get better, it would be wise to clean your ears out regularly. A lot of people think it's "weird" to clean your ears, but it's for hygiene purposes. It's not "weird" to take showers and since you clean your body and the ear is a part of the body, it would make sense you clean that too.

Hydrogen peroxide sounds scary though. I thought it was dangerous for the skin as we used it in chemistry experiments and it had a little warning sign on it? I use a piece of metal/plastic with a kind of round 'hook' to get the wax out. Quite effective and not painful if you're not stupid and jab it really deep down into your ear. (It's not sharp, no matter how terrifying it may sound.)
