Hmm, well fzun I think I like the white borders better. Yes, I'm not sure why - it just makes it all that bit clearer and the photos stand out more. But I guess thats just my opinion. ;) Great header by the way, I like how you've got all the smaller photos overlapping!

Quote:
I like how there's a shadow under the butterflies, but I don't know if that was part of the original image or not.

:P Yes it was!!

Noelle I actually really like this set, even though its not really my kind of taste for a set... The colour is just amazing! :D Both the avatars are fine, and they both match the sig. I like the second better though because having the font on the av and subtext match makes the main text stand out more.
Great image - one thing that bugs me though is that I can see something in the top right corner of the sig but I can't actually read what it says! :P And there's something in the bottom left hand corner too.

Quote:
Oh you have com far from the paint sets. Oh so far.

Heh heh, thanks!! :D

Ok, another set for you guys to rate please!! :D I made it for Ammer's set contest and I really really like it, so I wonder if you people do and if I can make it any better! I made it all on PSP8.

Thank you!

Maniac, dear...it says "no hope" on the bottom and "no joy" on the top. :P Guess I'll know, Noelle! =D

Fzun: I like the first version better since it goes with it better. I really like the way you made the photos look kinda like a polaroid. Good job!

Noelle: Noelle, dear. You changed styles! I'm not sure what it is, though. o__O I kinda like the first av better. Awesome job! Although, I believe the shadowed text should be more visible. *wink*

Maniac: I love the butterfly picture tube, dont you? This is your best set, in my opinion. I see abolutely nothing wrong with it.

--------------------------------------

Poor photobucket must hate me. But I have 2 sets for you to rate. The first is the one I'm currently using.

Image Image

And then this set, I have been wanting to make for a VERY long time, but I've been too lazy to do it. I also would like opinions as to use the quoted version, or the non-quoted version. My father says to use the quoted version.

DM: I like this one, alot! Everything flows together, even the words in the bg. Although, I don't much like that you let the words flow over your main image, nor that your main image looks like its face is part of the bg because of the identical colors. I see you really like the main font, because you seem to be using it alot. I think the subtle glow on the main text is fantastic. The stroke on the words in the av is a bit hard to read though, darker colors would suit it better imo.

DM II: I like the avatar, this is the darker stroke I was talking about. It doesn't look empty, but the grid lines overflowing onto Starfire's face makes it look weird. The quoted sig is a bit busy, and would be better if you faded your bg images more (say opacity=10?) and I think a stroke of 2 instead of 1 would be better for the main text, along with bold font so that it doesn't look overwhelming. I noticed her face is a bit squarish on the right side, was that just part of the image? Also, the same thing goes with the grid think: erase it from the face, but put it around everything else. Overall I think its pretty nice.

The above is a mock advertisement I had to do for an extracurricular club I was in (Photoshop Club :P) and I plan on taking the class my Sophmore year. I was just wondering if it does look like a real advertisement the corporation would do, and if it all flows together nicely without it being too busy. Critiques?

Knives: Much of it looks authentic to me. However, the one thing that kinda makes it lose that touch is your use of the swirl brushes. It...doesn't really seem to fit Gucci, and doesn't really look decent in anything other than sets, if you know what I mean. I can't seem to explain it, but...eh, yeah. :P I guess you could replace it with something else- perhaps scenes of casual life. Otherwise, it's great- the small "reflection" of the watch is a very authentic touch.

(Oh, again, any ratings on my new set would be appreciated.)

Hyperfluttery: the background animation is cute, but the texts look a bit out of place. The main text could stand to be a bit bigger (especially with a 3 px stroke) and the subtext a bit smaller.

Knives: the light grey images in the background are very classy. At first glance, it can fool most. It's definitely not too busy. I think the swirl brushes look elegant, even if they are common. But I can't say I know much about Gucci and what style they'd go for.

Noelle: I really like the colours and their consistency in the set. However, in the sig, the choppy glow around the text looks a bit too awkward. It's probably fine without it.

A set I just made (and is currently being used):

The original image.

SpiraLethe: I love it! The colors are very vibrant and really stand out ('specially since I'm using SubBlack:P). One thing, though, the sig subtext seems to run together a bit...Other than that, it's perfect^^

Ratings for my current set?

I very much like your set! It's very different from a standard template which everyone seems to use, and it stood out to me the first time I saw it. The simplicity of the image adds to it. The one complaint that I would have to make about it is that the symbols blends too much into the signature. When I look at it, the symbol seems part of the image, with the two large blocks of white together. Hard to explain, sorry. Otherwise, perfect set, dude!

Spiralethe

This set is beautiful. The reds ands whites compliment each other perfectly, and I liked the way you used different areas of the same image to make the two images. The effects you used on the image make it look really cool as well! The one thing that puts me off it a little is the fact that the border you used around the image blends into the image a little too much, as I can barely distinguish the two colours, but remember that this is just my opinion! Good job on the set!

Edit: Forgot my rating! This is an image I plan to use as a logo. For those who play M:tG, it's a logo for a fantasy set, but for those who don't, you really just need to know that this is almost like a 'title' image.

Matt: I really like the hand-drawn style and is definitely making me wonder what it means, but as a piece of work, I really like it.

Meanwhile, I just made this sig, using paint and a photoshop just for the clone process. What do you think of it?

I'm ba-ack.

Marshmallow Sky: I remember you from a Gnome Legion party! I think it was 2003's Halloween Party, but I'm not sure. Now then. They're quite...uhm...cute? o_O Kinda remind me of Leetlemen. However, I don't get it. I like how they're all holding hands. The colours don't go, and I think a pixel font would look better. Try dafont.com, they have some good ones. (Or use small fonts. I use size 5, all caps, you need to double space, though.) One more thing it needs and I'll quite babbling. A border. Since you used paint, use the square tool. :) YAY SQUARE TOOL!

Matt: I didn't know you made graphics! Neato! As I told MS (safe to call you that?), it needs a border. All graphics HAVE to have a border or they just don't look right. That font is really cool looking, I love grungy fonts. What is it? But, I don't know if it's just me, but the background reminds me of a raw grilled hamburger. :roflol:

------------------------------------------
Well, that was the least ratings I ever received on a set...so would anyone care to rate this new set I made?

Image Image

I'm going to be blunt with you guys: I don't care if it's my best set or gets the worst ratings in the history of the ratings thread, this set was a labour of love becuase I love this picture (picture of the Ocean Floor [Audio Adrenaline] video, taken of my TV by me) and I love the song. Oh, and I have a trick, I actually don't have Cezanne on my computer. I have A Cezanne on my computer, but not that one. I'm not sharing my trick! :P

Dm: I love the set! That is such awesome use of song lyrics. I haven't seen the video, so I don't know which part the picture is from. I like how it is out of focus though it gives the text more emphasis. 8/10

DM: Ooh! I like it! .. I don't know where the song is from - or the picture ... or anything - but I really like the way you've done the sub-text!!
And I like the size of the avatar - and the focus of it is good as well! :)
I actually really really like it! And the texture you've used is nice and subtle but noticeable.
The only thing that could be wrong is that I don't even know what the picture is of! :roll: :P Oh well ... heh heh heh, I still like it! :)

Marshmallow Sky: If you have Photoshop I don't really see why you've used Paint! :roll: I mean - Paint's ok... I have nothing against it [/ranting] :P
Anyway.. the sig.. it's *pause* ok. The picture is cute :D And the sub-text is funny and goes with the image but - like DM said - I don't really get it.. whats the point of it??

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My rating please! :D
Manic: I like the graphic. It is really colorful and sort of soothing. The only thing is, I don't quite get the subtext. The picture doesn't remind me of the sea that much.
Matt: Like DM said, it really needs a border. I don't understand it either, but it looks technically fine besides that. There's also some kind of blue grid thing going on in the background, I find it sort of distracting.
Amethyst: I love this set. Like Matt said, it is very simple and clean (well he may not have said exactly that :P ) I love the really thick border around it, it makes the image pop a lot more.
Spira: A great set. I love it when people use bold colors. I have a hard time reading the subtext, but for some reason that isn't a problem. I think I'm just too busy staring at the gorgeous picture to really notice.
Ratings for my valentines day set?
Image Image
Definately not my best, but please suggest techniques I can use to refine it.
Oh well... Katy asked me for a 'random' set from - anything I liked and I was just messing about, thought the background looked a little like waves and water. Add the bubble picture tube and Hey Presto!! It's supposed to look underwater anyway..... :D
(And I know I got her name wrong :oops: - this is the other version... ;) )
I have never done this before (rating)and really do not think I'm "qualified" so I'll try to just say what I like/don't like...
Maniac: It reminds me of sunlight shining on the bubbles rising from the depths of the water. The only thing I wasn't sure about was the placement of the sub-text and Katy's name.
hyperflutterby: The only thing that seems out of place is the colouring for the diamond and gold ring....the rest of the set has a more subtle look and I particularly like the font colours.
DM was on fire: What else can i say, but I love it! Subtle colours, soft focus. well done. (I don't know the band nor the lyrics)
Anyone care to rate these two sets please:
