Eh? Powerpets will never have ads. They rely on user donations only. They dont need crappy ads to support them. Heh, I dont see why neo doesnt ask for donations. It`ll make the site much better IMH. If not, I dont care.

Simply asking for donations is not a kosher practice because of the type of business Neopets is. It would have been more acceptable if they were a game run by college students with very little outside funding.

Which, of course, would mean the site wouldn't be nearly of the same quality that it is now. You have to admit, most of us wouldn't know where to begin when designing a site like Neopets. It's hard to upkeep a site like this too, especially if you only have so many staff on hand. Sure, they screw up, but it's been said before, many, many times, that everybody makes mistakes- professional or not. We really don't know what it's like to be a Staff Member, but nobody could unless they actually helped run the site for at least a year. It's hard to even acknowledge (let alone incorporate) what the folks who use the site want, unless they send a bazillion e-mails to you- People on TNT lurk here occasionally, but there simply isn't the time, money, or perhaps even the authorization to add some of the suggestions we make here into the site.

I can't say for sure whether or not being a Staff Member is a tough job- but when you think about the very SIZE and sheer amount of CONTENT that must be produced in a relatively small amount of time to keep users occupied(In most cases, we're talking about 5-minute attention spans, and even that's a really long shot) as well as the manifestations of the Root of All Evil (I like to call that Root the worst aspects of Human Nature; Scott Adams likes to call the manifestations of these aspects Managers) piling project after project upon you (I'm sure the kinds of lofty projects that they want to put on the site, like plots, NeoSchools, etc. were devised by people who obviously didn't know what the capacities of the people to actually carry out the project were), it's seems pretty obvious to me that it IS- Especially when the only funding you receive is from advertising companies and a few executives' wallets.

Heh. Im staff for Zetapets. Its not that bad yet. We have 120k+ users atm. We`re down right now for recoding. Im sure it wont be as bad as neopets has turned out to be.

Sure it takes time to build a site like neo. But its easier if you have some great dedicated staff like we do.

Who said Neo doesn't have dedicated staff? And are YOUR staff going to be JUST as dedicated after 5 years? How about trying to handle the bandwidth generated by millions of users?

It's not very simple.

Uh? Yes we will be. Its called get better servers. Also im sure 'Bandwidth' isnt a big problem for neo. Some server have unlimited and/or unmetered bandwidth. So unless you know some stuff about servers, I`d advise you not to say something.

It doesn't take someone who has a heck of a lot of experience to know that enough strain on any device will damage it or that device will simply cease to function. Your site has about 120,000 users, right? Multiply that by about thirteen, and imagine that many people going through your site constantly viewing pages every day for say, thirty minutes apiece. And what about finances?

I guarantee you at least one thing- Your staff WILL NOT be as dedicated to the site five years from now as they are now. That's the way it is everywhere. People get used to things. People get BORED. Have you seen Fool Hi's set? That'll give you an idea of what happens to people employed in nearly EVERY occupation. Virtual Pet sites are no exception. The site changes, of course; the individual's job doesn't change quite so readily.

ok, i wanna know why every here has been discussing NOTHING but the cons! I do agree with some of the cons. Neopets' goal was to be as big as Pokemon. Their problem now is that they're becoming exactly like pokemon. what with the quickly expanding merchandise and such. I'm just afraid that Neopets will lose sight of whats truly important. Not money, not popularity, but the millions of members that count on them to make their day....wow, that was deep. anyways, Neopets has had terrific accomplishments and horrible failures, but the point is that we're all there to have fun. I do not want to criticize anyone's posts, because i agree with most of them. I also agree that Neopets did have some better things before, like half of the hackers/scammers that we do now. Also, we all have our own different opinions, so stop arguing about whats better and what's worse. ok, i'm done now.

Not everyone wrote cons. I know I didn't! Check a few pages back and you will see that several of us had pretty much nothing but pros on our posts. And, yes, that comes from the somewhat jaded oldster who should get a trophy for "user affected the most by glitches." Granted, it is not perfect and could use a bit of improvement, but it is still, by far, the best (free) virtual game site I have ever seen.

:battar: Excuse me, "as bad as neopets has turned out to be" ????? :battar:

Personally, I don't think Neopets is that "bad" or I would find something else with which to occupy my free time. My guess is most people here--despite their complaints--feel the same way. If they do think Neopets is bad and yet are continuing to play it, then they really must either be totally addicted or masochists. And should get professional help for doing something that they "hate" so much.

Tested made this fabulous set for me!!! Isn't it great?

Well, what's the point of this board, then? People have to put someplace to praise (and rant about) TNT for their collective work, the site we all know and love/hate/both/kthxomgwtfbbqlolz.

Thats true, I think we're magnifying some of the ads a bit too much. I really dont get whats all the fuss.

I'm pretty sure everyone is disappointed about a lot of things though, such as the sloth plot and the Mystery Dinner Plot thingy never happening despite how millions and billions of "Click here to remind Adam" buttons were clicked.

And on a side note, I've played HALO 2 on XBOX, I kind've like HALO 1 better though...

Have you seen the "Now they're advertising birth control" banner ad? That has something to do with it XP

Dinner Mystery = Cancelled (OMG_LYKEGALEMISDEADLOL)

Halo is flawless. X-Box isn't :P
