Honestly though, is there anyone Asian here who would be offended by a Samurai Brush? It's not like neopets would be poking fun at the culture. There's a Christmas Paintbrush and not everyone on the site is Christian.

I think it would be a really cool idea to explore other cultures and let our neopets dress up in outfits customary to other cultures. Very "It's a Small World" -esque.

I'm Asian (Chinese, though, not Japanese), and I don't think a Samurai paintbrush would be offensive at all. But that's just my personal opinion. Different people WILL have different reactions.

A world cultures paintbrush sounds like a really good idea to me.

This would further prove that Disney has indeed bought out neopets. I'm still not sure that any type of warrior paintbrush would be a good thing.. probably because I'm afraid right after that, they'll create a Politician paintbrush, which would cost twice as much as the most expensive paintbrushes and then come in grey and blue pinstripe suits.

Amazing what one can come up with when one is given a cardboard box and a roll of duct-tape!

They've already begun representing world cultures with some of the Usuki/Quiguki dolls. So they just might do that.

World paint brush idea = bad.

Say the kau gets to be the canadian. Then all the canadias are like "SO WHAT, LIKE, what the heck, WE'RE COWS NOW?!"

Sayy.. you decide that the french should get the Tuskanny. So the french are like, "OMG, what the heck, WE'RE WALRUSSUS?!!?"

Say the americans get the quiggle, and then they'd be like "OMG, what the heck, WE'RE LIKE.. TOADS. DUDE. I SUE YOU"

So forth and so on. I can't see it being anything but bad.

As to paint brushes, I'd rather neopets do some more fun/plain colors. Then again, I've always been one for plain. o.x What about a bronze paint brush? or different shades of yellow/red/green/ and blue? What about a prozac paint brush? We have depressed pets, why can't we have exceedingly happy pets? What about food pets. A pet made out of food, what about furniture pets? I mean, c'mon. Getting out of the world of neopia and into the world of ..well.. the world, would make neopets loose alot of its fantasy..imo..

ON topic stuff? I still maintain that Samurai are too area specific to be a color. They should work on equalizing the number of colors each pet can have. I.E. getting every pet up to where the Aishas are, at about 45 colors last time i checked...

Yea, but the problem with that is, as TNT says, "some Neopets wouldn't be seen dead in a Faerie costume but can't get enough of their Halloween gear". So basically, it'd be a rare pet that actually gets painted all colours. It's just that TNT seem to favour the aisha above all others for some reason. Well, them and chias.

Personally, though, I'd like to say a faerie tonu... just because it seems totally absurd - not because I have a thing for tonus.

I do agree, though, that 'Samurai' is too area specific, but that shouldn't preclude an 'oriental' style paint brush (perhaps named after a world on the other side of Neopia?). And yes, there will be some people who may be offended by such a paint brush, but there are others who will see it as a good thing. Like, they can paint their pet in such a way as to embrace their culture.

Or something... Sorry, my mind wandered.

Anyway, it would really be no different to the Royal Paint Brush being based on Western royalty or the Island Paint Brush being semi-Oceanic...

I don't see how the Samurai p/b could be too specific, as someone said a page or two ago, I mean look. Disco? As for teaching children that that's all there is to the Japanese culture... well... Neopets isn't here to teach anyone anything. So you could make the same argument over letting a kid watch the cartoons and not understanding why they're not suddenly fluent in eight languages. I'd love to see "culture" paintbrushes. Each country having their own brush, and affecting pets differently. I know there's a geisha flotsam shopkeeper already, and then the martial arts nimmo shopkeeper. You could have an Austrailian p/b, the gelert could be a dingo! And the harris could be a... oh.. nevermind. ha.

Heh, All that represents Canada in that is a crappy mountie with a totem pole on his head. If we get a Samurai paintbrush, I want a brush to turn my pets into Bob and Doug Mackenzie!

If you don't like "Samurai Pets", the answer is simple -- don't get one. If they do make one, don't quit over it, just don't paint your own pet Samurai, and pray that the Lab Ray doesn't turn it into one.

Yeah, I think an 'oriental' style paint brush would be possible. I mean, there are quite a few worlds in Neopia which are based on real places. Like the Lost Desert, which is obviously based on Egypt (and there's a Lost Desert Paint Brush, which paints your pet to look Egyptian), and also there's Meridell, which is based on Medieval Europe (Meridell doesn't currently have a Paint Brush though, unless you count the Royal Paint Brush).
So yeah, I could see a Asian-type Paint Brush, not to mention a world based on the continent.
