Congratulations! You have guessed correctly in the Lenny Conundrum game (Round 101). We have given you a Eelika, an Avatar, and 901 NP!

OK. I didn't win, my friend did. ANSWER? 612

What I got was very very very different.

JasEdit: Just a reminder to following posters:

After a Mystery Pic or Lenny Conundrum comes out, only one post about the prizes being out should be sufficient. These posts are clogging up the MP and LC threads. Any other posts about the prizes will be deleted and a PM will be sent to the poster.

Here's the answer if you couldn't get it:

Tank:
3 fathoms = 5.4864m
2 rods = 10.0584m
0.025 furlongs = 5.0292m

5.4864m x 10.0584m x 5.0292m = 277.53341 m3 (metres cubed)

Liquid:
You need to fill out the formula: mass (the answer) = volume (the tank, in m3) x density (the liquid, in kg/m3)

1 hogshead = 238.48094 L
1 grain = 1/7000 lb therefore 7000 grains = 1 lb

3,678,675 / 7000 = 525.525 lb / 238.48094 L = 238.3741 kg / 238.48094 L

1000 L = 1 m3 therefore 238.48094 L = .238481 m3

SO mass = 277.53341 x 999.85
= 277,491.78 kg = 611.785 kips = 612

If you assume that the clear, colorless liquid is water (density = 1000 kg/m3), you get a mass of 277,533.41 kg = 611.86 kips = 612

Unfortunately the website I looked at told me there were 3.5 gallons in a barrel (instead of 31.5). (there are 2 barrels in a US hogshead).

That fouled up my calculation. :(

I thought it was fun, since in my calculation I needed to use the acceleration due to gravity (9.8 m/sec^2).

Oh well. Let's hope for a good one again this week!

I won, too! Not soon enough for a trophy (too bad), but it's the second time I've won. I'll have to admit, it's better splitting a small pot than getting nothing at all.

Dang it! All that work, and I missed it because I stupidly rounded down instead of up. Argh.

This is what I get for doing math at 3am and then submitting before I've had my morning caffine.

Oh, well, I guess it was only 900 NP.
