A 45 month old Neopets player here.

I remember back then when they had a video shop. This shop was absolutely useless as you could not do anything with the items. (Later, TNT changed the videos into retired books.)

I remember back then when the high scores first came out. The first and only game for awhile for high scores was Techo Says. You were not able to earn trophies for awhile. When trophies first appeared, you needed to get #1 on the high scores for gold, #2 for silver, and #3 for bronze. There was no range for trophies. You had to be the best. (And I was the best. :wink: If anyone is interested, check my user lookup on NP. name is hyper200092. I have trophies that hardly anyone has such as Test Game and JubJub Blackjack)

I remember when Neopia Central and Mystery Island were the only places you could go and to access Mystery Island, you had to pay a fee of 3 totems. To get totems, you had to sign up with sponsors.

I remember when the battledome was new, there were hardly any good items (compared to today). People drooled over the Wand of the Air Faerie. Also, the Hypno Helmet (now called H4000 Helmet) used to cost only 900 gp in other users shops, as it was useless back then. (Later on TNT changes it to freeze the opponent for one round. Took the whole economy months before they realized this item was good.)

I remember when neggs did not have neggery points, as there was no neggery back then. Neggs were less than 1000 gp each.

I know more stuff, just too tired to think right now (4:45 am where I am right now.)

I used to collect Hypno Helmets when they were cheap because I thought they looked cool. Then my account was stolen from a fake login. *sobs* Oh, man, I'd give ANYTHING for that account back...


I remember the video store, too! And Badeeks, and ugly Scorchios...

My account is 30 months old, but I've been around for about 3 and 1/2 years... so much has changed. I really miss switch-a-roo, why did they have to get rid of that?
And the frequent random events! I want those back!

Hrm. I remember the totems and how you had to either buy them from the Magic shop or sign up with sponsors to get 3 of them so you could go to the new world.. Mystery Island!

I remember how Chias could only be painted purple. And you could read books over and over again so books were dirt cheap.

Oh and with the FIRST space discount cards (there has been 3 now), I could get bitten green apples in the food shop for 0np.

And Scorchy Slots used to be 2np a game!!

Does anybody remember the Games Cupboard? And the first Ice Cream Factory game? And NeoTicTacToe? And that NeoRacing game? And that weird Feed-a-Skeith game? There was also that Coconut game in Mystery Island..

I remember started playing in the Winter of 1999.Back then, all paintbrushes were cheap,nerkmids were cheap, and I used to make a profit buying and selling codestones at around 2,500NP-3,500NP.I remember Neopets before the battledome.They actually had a short form you could fill out and if you were lucky you would be able to be a beta tester in the battledome and fight Dexter,the Powerpuff girls,etc.My brother was one of the beta testers and he let me do it sometimes.The bd was SO glitchy, but still very cool.I also remember getting my first 1,000,000NP.I announced it on the Neoboards and people were actually saying stuff like, "Wow!Congrats!", or, "Dude, you're rich!", instead of, "SCAMMER!IM REPORTING YOU!!!11111" or, "Liar,I'm gonna report you!".And when people used to collect smilies instead of avatars.And having just one trophy was Uber Cool.When you could request for a faerie quest instead of it being a random event.I also remember making money off of the videos turning into books.I saw that all of the videos turned into red x's, so naturally, I bought all I could afford(about 200K worth at the time).I sold them the next day for a boatload of np after they turned into books.And Maraqua, and when the Chef's quests were easy.When there were less then 50 unbuyables, and now, theres over 500.Neggs were cheap, on account of no Neggery.And the Time Machine quests in Tyrannia, which usually cost over 25K a piece, and the rewards were dirt cheap at the time, but now are unbuyables.And when Hypno Helmets cost 800NP a piece.I used to have dozens of them attached to my pets,in my SDB,in display on the TP.My goal was to get 1,000 of them.With today's prices, that'll never happen.Those were the days.

When Purple pets had no orange on them

I first joined neopets on the account wizardgirl50 on June 21, 2001, making my oldest account 3 years old two days ago. My main account, sprklystrz0919, is now 22 months old.

It was the day the Lost Desert was added to the explore map. The middle of the Brucey B plot?, I think. I was really confused when I first joined the site, so I didn't take part in all the major things I wish I took part in. It was also the day the Ummagine was released. Wow.

I remember playing Techo Says. I could never get past the third or fourth level--it drove me nuts. And I remember playing Kacheek Seek. Oh, and Switch-a-roo was THE game! It was a great neopoint maker. Like the Turdle Racing of the past. Except Turdle Racing is much more of a gamble today. I remember when you could walk away with 45k from Turdle Racing every single day. That wasn't all that long ago, actually.

I left neopets soon after joining, before Meridell or Krawk Island. It was a real shocker when I came back in August of 2002. I had missed about a year of changes.

Eh? I thought they'd always had ornage spots! o.O

Nope, not all of them did. I think there WAS a time when there were no orange!

Wow, this thing is still going.I've been on 38 months now lol.I miss the nearly glitchless Neopets.

Oh yeah, I'd forgotton about that one! I was really good at techo says, could get up to thre 5th or 6th level usually, before it got too confusing.
There were so many nice games in the old days that they took away, without any apparent reason!

They took them away for room for new games.And some of them weren't getting played a lot.

My 2nd oldest account is 48 months, and I forgot my first account's name looooong ago. I had a Badeek, though.

I remember when I was still pretty new and got a faerie painbrush from a RE, and painting my grundo. I thought my cybunny (which was a relatively pet) would look cute that way, too, so I bought another one for soooo cheap. Can't remember how much, but it was close to 50k. It took me months to get 50k. Ah....

Ah yes, I'm a 45-month acct holder. Lots I remember from back then. Trading cards were tops - were gonna be 'something big',
Theme-parks - ahhh to own a GRAND theme park! Taking my pet on a ride & seeing it's reaction, lol. Deciding which ride to put in my park & figuring out how to get peope there. Maintenance, etc.
Signing up for sponsors to get a shop Discount card - the more sponsors you signed up for the bigger your discount in the shops (no haggling back then).
Hard to remember it all.... NO guilds back then, they were on the horizon, same with the battledome, that we kept anxiously awaiting.
